Dershowitz's "argument" is not an argument. It's an excuse.

Dershowitz's argument will basically be that Abuse of Power is not an impeachable offense. That the framers wanted Presidents to abuse power, and didn't want Congress to stop that by impeaching. That they wanted to give a President more power than that of a King.

It's obvious to anybody who has ever had so much as a whiff of the Framers documents that this is not the case. So why does somebody as well-known as Dershowitz say these things? Because Senate Republicans need an excuse to keep Trump in power. Not real arguments... just an excuse.

They don't have any real arguments anyway so... what the heck! why not?

The problem with this plan is that they are counting on the American people being complete uniformed dolts and, even more, that they have no common sense whatsoever. I think it has the potential to backfire but... we shall see.
