Masks. Humans exhale Carbon Dioxide. In most cases, we exhale I guess very little.

but if one were to forced to be wearing a mask most of the day, then I'm guessing the chances of being weakened from being in ones Carbon Dioxide constantly, goes way up! Carbon Dioxide can be very deadly, by itself.

Mix that, with A respiratory virus, and both of things together add death and disaster. Weird how Democrat politicians wish for people to breath in Carbon Dioxide, hu?

What's your point? Corporations are always working to sell their product outside the USA.

USA is only 4% of the world population. Being cut off from the 96% is something corporations don't like.

    You are making wild assumptions.

Please cite serious medical science on this.

Do you believe that pets are a serious concern in spreading COVID to humans?

If not, I'll wait to respond to serious comment when/if I see it.

~ USA put China in business starting with Jimmy Carter. Clinton finished the deal to sell out America. Today Carter still remarks about how "hard" the USA is with "our eastern friends ".'
I am not sure what Nixon had in mind ...

Nixon pointed out that we will make more difference in China if we trade with them.

That IS what has happened. Is it everything we want? Of course not. But, the policy of attempting to isolate China was clearly a failure.

Your comments on Carter are no more than your statement of partisanship.

OK - I'm up for suggestions on that.

I was responding to what I perceived as more absolutist views.

I'd point out that Trump tried the (ill advised) tariffs approach.

I think the tariffs worked or were till Biden got in office. Tariffs are a drastic measure that adds strength to negotiations and that is their purpose.

No, the purpose was "America First" as indicated by American jobs staying in America.

An April 2019 working paper by economists found that the tariffs on washing machines caused the prices of washers to increase by approximately twelve percent in the United States.[23] A 2019 paper by Federal Reserve Board economists found that the steel tariffs led to 0.6% fewer jobs in the manufacturing sector than would have happened in the absence of the tariffs; this amounted to approximately 75,000 jobs.[204][205]

In May 2019, analyses from varying organizations were released. A May 2019 Goldman Sachs analysis found that the consumer price index (CPI) for tariffed goods had increased dramatically, compared to a declining CPI for all other core goods.[206] A CNBC analysis that month found that Trump had "enacted tariffs equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in decades," while Tax Foundation and Tax Policy Center analyses found the tariffs could offset the benefits of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 for many households.[20][21][22] The Tax Foundation found that if all existing and proposed tariffs were fully implemented, the benefits of the Trump tax cut would be completely eliminated for all taxpayers through the 90th percentile in earnings.[207] Another May 2019 analysis conducted by the National Taxpayers Union warned that the existing and proposed additional tariffs, if fully implemented, would constitute the largest tax increase of the post-war era.[208] According to an analysis by Peterson Institute for International Economics economists, American businesses and consumers paid more than $900,000 a year for each job that was created or saved as a result of the Trump administration's tariffs on steel and aluminum.[209] The cost for each job saved as a result of the administration's tariffs on washing machines was $815,000.[209]

This is the comment about that in WIKI article for "Trump tariffs":

"Analysis conducted by Deutsche Bank estimated that Trump's trade actions had resulted in foregone American stock market capitalization of $5 trillion through May 2019.[210]

"Trump announced on August 1, 2019, that he would impose a 10% tariff on $300 billion of Chinese imports beginning September 1; four days later the Chinese Commerce Ministry announced that China was halting imports of all American agricultural goods. American Farm Bureau Federation data showed that agriculture exports to China fell from $19.5 billion in 2017 to $9.1 billion in 2018, a 53% decline.[211] The figure was $21.4 billion in 2016.[212]

"A September 2019 Federal Reserve study found that tariffs Trump imposed through mid-2019, combined with the policy uncertainty they created, would reduce the 2020 real GDP growth rate by one percentage point.[213]"

    Also, we have this:
"A May 2019 analysis conducted by CNBC found Trump's tariffs are equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in the U.S. in decades.[20][21][22] Studies have found that Trump's tariffs reduced real income in the United States, as well as adversely affecting U.S. GDP.[23][24][25] Some studies also concluded that the tariffs adversely affected Republican candidates in elections.[26][27][28]"

These are all referenced, so you can read the studies.

    Analysis by Brookings in:
    https://www.brookings.edu/policy202...nefit-american-workers-and-national-security/

    As for jobs:

"Studies suggest American consumers paid about $817,000 in higher prices attributable to the tariffs for every job created in the washing machine industry and $900,000 in the steel industry."

    As for trade negotiations:

"Yet when we look in closer detail at the outcome of these negotiations, the threat of tariffs does not appear to have brought substantial gains to the U.S. The USMCA is, in general, very similar to NAFTA. And the Phase One trade deal consisted mostly of basic purchase agreements—which, due in part to the COVID-19 shutdown, are extremely unlikely to be attained—while punting the trickier, but more important, structural questions to a hypothetical Phase Two deal (which at this point seems unlikely to ever occur). Tariffs may get other countries’ attention, but don’t necessarily lead them to make substantial concessions to U.S. demands.

"And while Trump’s tariffs may have brought some countries to the negotiating table, in the long run the tariffs likely also contributed to pushing other potential trade partners away. When negotiating trade agreements, countries want partners whose policies are stable and predictable, with the goal of establishing a long-term, win-win partnership. Trump’s eagerness to resort to tariffs, including in relations with close allies, has made the U.S. a less desirable trade partner for other countries."

No, the most destructive event that inhibited the discovery of what happened in that lab was Dr. Fauci's collaboration with social and legacy media corporations to push the narrative that the lab leak theory was a preposterous conspiracy.

I cannot believe that ALL of the scientists working in the Wuhan lab are people without conscience. Some must be good people who truly love science, and want to tell what happened; I know it.

What Fauci, other bureaucrats, politicians, social media corporations, legacy media corporations and pundits, and Hollywood did, was create an environment in which NONE of these scientists, or family/friends they talked to, EVER come forward, defect, etc. And they did it intentionally.

We need those people to find out what happened. Put yourself in their shoes. You're not saying ANYTHING when the primary entity that you want to protect you and your family is calling you a dangerous anti science conspiracy theorist.

Dr. Fauci had NOTHING to do with the investigation of China/Wuhan.

You're just parotting some conspiracy theory someone dreamed up.
I agree with you that there really is no chance that all the scientists at that lab were without conscience.

But, you are TOTALLY missing the source of the anti-China movement. That was started and was continually pumped by TRUMP. He made brash and totally unsupported claims of blame. He called it the "China virus" with clear intent to imply that it was CAUSED by policy in China.

Trump IS a dangerous anti-science conspiracy theorist when it comes to COVID.

He ensured there could be NO cooperation between the US and China concerning locating the method of the disease entering the human population. He ensured that there would be no cooperation possible.

He was constantly anti-medical science, attacking every aspect of what US medical science found to be sound methods of protecting America to the best of our ability. He championed "solutions" that were absolutely NOT solutions. He made claims that COVID could be ignored, because the disease would be over once summer arrived. He took no action with his power to require the manufacture and acquisition of products needed by hospitals. He placed himself between medical science and the public by taking over the communication mechanism set up to inform the public. He used his power as president to cancel or block sound policy decisions. Etc., etc.

    Not exactly in Wuhan.
    In the surrounding countryside.
    The virus entered Wuhan later.

Why am I so sure of this? Because the urban environment is not [statistically] the best one for the appearance of a new virus.
Usually [statistically] viruses reach cities coming from the surrounding countryside.

I don't need to parrot. I use logic. Reason. Observation. For example, I can observe that the current reality we live in is NOT conducive to the enticement of any lab worker, or friend or family member, that a lab worker may have spoken to, to defect, or come forward in any way (if indeed, it was a lab leak, we don't even have to acknowledge that to acknowledge this reality). That reality is undeniable.

The reason I can deduce the above, has nothing to do with parroting conspiracy theories. It is simply me asking myself "what if", and then placing myself in the shoes of a lab worker who was considering how to go about exposing the truth. I would need to know that as soon as I spoke, I and my family would be whisked away and protected by the US government.

Once you acknowledge the above obvious truth, then you move on to: will that person be indeed protected by the US government? And it is clear from Fauci's collusion with social media alone, that no, the US government will likely not protect them, and thus, that person will not come forward in this environment.

Now that you have reached that conclusion, then you ask: why would the US government create a narrative and environment that discourages whistleblowers, if there is a chance that it was a lab leak? And there is obviously a chance, as scientists around the world are saying it, intelligence agencies are disagreeing on it, and even the former head of the CDC suggests it. So why would they foreclose any possibility of a whistleblower? That is obvious as well...

Medical science analyzes the dna carried by these viruses. Medical science does not agree that the dna was dicked with by the scientists at the Wuhan lab.

Also, you just hate Dr. Fauci. He had nothing to do with the investigation in China.

The investigation carried out in China was done by WHO, because there is NO WAY that the USA could be involved once Trump started has diatribes against China.

I agree that we should learn more about what happened. Plus, we should have a continuing scientific relationship with that region to find ways to make further such pandemics less likely.

BUT, Trump really killed the possibility of that approach. We have a long ways to go in working TOGETHER with China on this problem that is just as serious to China as it is to the USA and the rest of the world.

I don't hate Dr. Fauci; I hate what he stands for. He has bragged about and promoted gain of function research for over a decade. Many of us, including real scientists have said the entire time that this research is extremely risky. And despite this, he and other cronies were successful in covering it up after the risk was realized.

These "scientists"' genetic manipulation of viruses, insects, animals, plants, and people, will likely result in a different type of pollution to life on this planet that is an orders of magnitude greater threat than carbon emissions. Real scientists better get a backbone soon and sound the alarm.

Well, as my post indicates, there are some I would trust: the scientist working in the Wuhan lab that risks everything and comes forward. Or maybe even a high level CCP official who admits to the cover up.

I wonder if anyone will ever hold China accountable for all of the murders threw covid that they created? I doubt it. One way is that every nation in the World, including the U.S., would no longer owe them anything trade wise. That would get America trillions of dollars out of debt, and give America a chance to reset, to where China would completely own our markets, and economy.
