The 1996 Yukon case is compelling because there were so many independent witnesses over a large area, and for a long period of time. Also, the observations could not have been misidentifications.

This is a great documentary made by NEDAA - a service unique to the Yukon. They go into detail about the witnesses, and then relate this event to legends that exists in their culture.

    The COMETA Report:

On Friday July 16, 1999 an important document was published in France entitled, UFOs and Defense: What must we be prepared for? ("Les Ovni Et La Defense: A quoi doit-on se préparer?"). This ninety-page report is the result of an in-depth study of UFOs... Its name, "COMETA" stands for "Committee for in-depth studies." A non-exhaustive list of members is given at the beginning which is quite impressive. It includes:
General Bruno Lemoine, of the Air Force (FA of IHEDN)
Admiral Marc Merlo, (FA of IHEDN)
Michel Algrin, Doctor in Political Sciences, attorney at law (FA of IHEDN)
General Pierre Bescond, engineer for armaments (FA of IHEDN)
Denis Blancher, Chief National Police superintendent at the Ministry of the Interior
Christian Marchal, chief engineer of the national Corps des Mines and Research Director at the National Office of Aeronautical Research (ONERA)
General Alain Orszag, Ph.D. in physics, armaments engineer
The committee also expresses its gratitude to outside contributors including
Jean-Jacques Vélasco, head of SEPRA at CNES,
François Louange, President of Fleximage, specialist in photo analysis
General Joseph Domange, of the Air Force, general delegate of the Association of Auditors at IHEDN...

In its conclusion, COMETA claims that the physical reality of UFOs, under control of intelligent beings, is "quasi-certain." Only one hypothesis takes into account the available data: the hypothesis of extraterrestrial visitors.

Another interesting account is that of Nicholas Roerich

Nicholas Roerich (/ˈrɛrɪk/; October 9, 1874 – December 13, 1947) – known also as Nikolai Konstantinovich Rerikh (Russian: Никола́й Константи́нович Ре́рих) – was a Russian painter, writer, archaeologist, theosophist, perceived by some in Russia as an enlightener,[1] philosopher, and public figure, who in his youth was influenced by a movement in Russian society around the spiritual. He was interested in hypnosis and other spiritual practices and his paintings are said to have hypnotic expression.[2][3]

...After leaving New York, the Roerichs – together with their son George and six friends – began the five-year-long 'Roerich Asian Expedition' that, in Roerich's own words: "started from Sikkim through Punjab, Kashmir, Ladakh, the Karakoram Mountains, Khotan, Kashgar, Qara Shar, Urumchi, Irtysh, the Altai Mountains, the Oyrot region of Mongolia, the Central Gobi, Kansu, Tsaidam, and Tibet" with a detour through Siberia to Moscow in 1926.
    - wiki-

On Aug 5, 1927, while trekking in the Himalayas, he wrote in his journal:
‘something remarkable! We were in our camp in the Kukunor [NE Tibet] district, not far from the Humboldt chain… some of our caravaneers noticed a remarkably big black eagle flying above us. Seven of us began to watch this unusual bird. At the same moment another of our caravaneers remarked: ‘there is something far above the bird,’ and he shouted his astonishment. We all saw, in the direction north to south, something big and shiny reflecting sun, like a huge oval moving at great speed. Crossing our camp this thing changed in its direction from south to southwest, and we saw how it disappeared in the intense blue sky. We even had time to take our field glasses and saw quite distinctly the oval form with the shiny surface, one side of which was brilliant from the sun.’ Altai-Himalaya (1929)

His wife also commented on this in her diary and suggested that it must have been a craft with people from somewhere else. Then she suggested the idea of life on other planets. I confirmed this all with the curator at the Roerich Museum, in New York.

The so called “Tulli Papyrus” is an enigmatic text that some describe as the first written account of a UFO sighting. This Egyptian text records an event which supposedly occurred during the 18th dynasty, around 1480 BC.

    Translations of the Tulli Papyrus
There are two individual translations of the ancient Egyptian text, one by Prince Boris de Rachewiltz, and the other one by anthropologist R. Cedric Leonard. Following is a translation provided by Prince Boris de Rachewiltz:

In the year 22 third month of winter, sixth hour of the day the scribas of the House of Life found it was a circle of fire that was coming in the sky (Though) it had no head, the breadth of its mouth (had) a foul odour. Its body 1 rod long (about 150 feet) and 1 rod large, It had no voice… They hearts become confused through it; then they laid themselves on the bellies They went to the King ..?) to report it. His Majesty ordered has been examined as to all which is written in the papyrus-rolls of the House Of Life His Majesty was meditating upon what happened. Now, after some days had passed over these things, Lo! they were more numerous than anything. They were shining in the sky more than the sun to the limits of the four supports of heaven. Powerful was the position of the fire circles. The army of the king looked on and His Majesty was in the midst of it. It was after supper. Thereupon, they (i.e. the fire circles) went up higher directed to South. Fishes and volatiles fell down from the sky. (It was) a marvel never occurred since the foundation of this Land! Caused His Majesty to be brought incense to pacify the hearth, what happened in the book of the House of Life to be remembered for the Eternity.

    R. Cedric Leonard provides a more comprehensible translation that might help some understand the text’s essence a little better:

In the year 22, of the third month of winter, sixth hour of the day [...] among the scribes of the House of Life it was found that a strange Fiery Disk was coming in the sky. It had no head. The breath of its mouth emitted a foul odor. Its body was one rod in length and one rod in width. It had no voice. It came toward His Majesty's house. Their heart became confused through it, and they fell upon their bellies. They [went] to the king, to report it. His Majesty [ordered that] the scrolls [located] in the House of Life be consulted. His Majesty meditated on all these events which were now going on.

After several days had passed, they became more numerous in the sky than ever. They shined in the sky more than the brightness of the sun, and extended to the limits of the four supports of heaven [...] Powerful was the position of the Fiery Disks.

The army of the King looked on, with His Majesty in their midst. It was after the evening meal when the Disks ascended even higher in the sky to the south. Fish and other volatiles rained down from the sky: a marvel never before known since the foundation of the country. And His Majesty caused incense to be brought to appease the heart of Amun-Re, the god of the Two Lands. And it was [ordered] that the event [be recorded for] His Majesty in the Annals of the House of Life [to be remembered] for ever.

The so called Miracle of the Sun is another interesting event. The obvious point being, if people really saw what they described, it couldn't have been the sun.

The Miracle of the Sun (Portuguese: O milagre do sol), also known as the Miracle of Fátima, refers to an event that allegedly occurred on 13 October 1917 above a large crowd who had gathered in Fátima, Portugal, in response to a prophecy made by three shepherd children. The prophecy was that the Virgin Mary (referred to as Our Lady of Fátima), would appear and perform miracles on that date. Newspapers published testimony from reporters and other people who claimed to have witnessed extraordinary solar activity, such as the sun appearing to "dance" or zig-zag in the sky, careen towards the earth, or emit multicolored light and radiant colors. According to these reports, the event lasted approximately ten minutes.

    The event[edit]
Crowd at Cova da Iria on 13 October 1917
Estimates of the number of people present range from 30,000 and 40,000, by Avelino de Almeida writing for the Portuguese newspaper O Século,[16] to 100,000, estimated by lawyer Dr. José Almeida Garrett, the son of a professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra.[17][18]

Various claims have been made as to what actually happened during the event. According to many witnesses, after a period of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disc in the sky. It was said to be significantly duller than normal, and to cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds. The sun was then reported to have careened towards the earth before zig-zagging back to its normal position.[19] Witnesses reported that their previously wet clothes became "suddenly and completely dry, as well as the wet and muddy ground that had been previously soaked because of the rain that had been falling".[20] Not all witnesses reported seeing the sun "dance". Some people only saw the radiant colors, and others, including some believers, saw nothing at all.[21][22][23][24] The only known picture of the sun taken during the event shows nothing unusual.[9][10]

The three children (Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto) who originally claimed to have seen Our Lady of Fátima also reported seeing a panorama of visions, including those of Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, and of Saint Joseph blessing the people.[25] In the fourth edition of her memoirs, written in 1941, Lúcia said that on the occasion of their third visit to the Cova da Iria, on 13 July 1917, she asked the Lady to tell them who she was, and to perform a miracle so that everyone would believe. The Lady told her that they should continue to come to the Cova each month until October, when the requested miracle would occur.[19]

    De Marchi accounts[edit]
Part of the crowd looking at the sun during the event
Descriptions of the events reported at Fátima were collected by Father John De Marchi, an Italian Catholic priest and researcher. De Marchi spent seven years in Fátima, from 1943 to 1950, conducting research and interviewing the principals at length.[26] In The Immaculate Heart, published in 1952, De Marchi reports that, "[t]heir ranks (those present on 13 October) included believers and non-believers, pious old ladies and scoffing young men. Hundreds, from these mixed categories, have given formal testimony. Reports do vary; impressions are in minor details confused, but none to our knowledge has directly denied the visible prodigy of the sun."[27]

De Marchi authored several books on the subject, such as The True Story of Fátima. They include a number of witness descriptions.

    • "The sun, at one moment surrounded with scarlet flame, at another aureoled in yellow and deep purple, seemed to be in an exceedingly swift and whirling movement, at times appearing to be loosened from the sky and to be approaching the earth, strongly radiating heat."―Dr. Domingos Pinto Coelho, writing for the Catholic newspaper Ordem.[28]
    • "... The silver sun, enveloped in the same gauzy grey light, was seen to whirl and turn in the circle of broken clouds ... The light turned a beautiful blue, as if it had come through the stained-glass windows of a cathedral, and spread itself over the people who knelt with outstretched hands ... people wept and prayed with uncovered heads, in the presence of a miracle they had awaited. The seconds seemed like hours, so vivid were they."―Reporter for the Lisbon newspaper O Dia.[27]
    • "The sun's disc did not remain immobile. This was not the sparkling of a heavenly body, for it spun round on itself in a mad whirl when suddenly a clamor was heard from all the people. The sun, whirling, seemed to loosen itself from the firmament and advance threateningly upon the earth as if to crush us with its huge fiery weight. The sensation during those moments was terrible." —De Marchi attributes this description to Dr. Almeida Garrett, Professor of Natural Sciences at Coimbra University.[29] Theologian Father Stanley L. Jaki wrote that it was actually given by Dr. José Almeida Garrett, a young lawyer, and is often mistakenly attributed to his father, a professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra,[17] named Dr. Gonçalo de Almeida Garrett.[30]
    • "As if like a bolt from the blue, the clouds were wrenched apart, and the sun at its zenith appeared in all its splendor. It began to revolve vertiginously on its axis, like the most magnificent firewheel that could be imagined, taking on all the colors of the rainbow and sending forth multicolored flashes of light, producing the most astounding effect. This sublime and incomparable spectacle, which was repeated three distinct times, lasted for about ten minutes. The immense multitude, overcome by the evidence of such a tremendous prodigy, threw themselves on their knees." —Dr. Manuel Formigão, a professor at the seminary at Santarém, and a priest.[29]
    • "I feel incapable of describing what I saw. I looked fixedly at the sun, which seemed pale and did not hurt my eyes. Looking like a ball of snow, revolving on itself, it suddenly seemed to come down in a zig-zag, menacing the earth. Terrified, I ran and hid myself among the people, who were weeping and expecting the end of the world at any moment." —Rev. Joaquim Lourenço, describing his boyhood experience in Alburitel, eighteen kilometers from Fátima.[31]
    • "On that day of October 13, 1917, without remembering the predictions of the children, I was enchanted by a remarkable spectacle in the sky of a kind I had never seen before. I saw it from this veranda ..." —Portuguese poet Afonso Lopes Vieira.[32]
De Marchi also drew on the newspaper account written by Avelino de Almeida, a journalist sent by the newspaper O Século (English: The Century), who described in detail the reactions of the crowd.[33] [continued]

Do you think that Russian media is more accurate than Western media? I thought that it was all government controlled. Here in the US it seems that there are definitely slants on issues as well as large operations like Mockingbird in which most large media outlets have been heavily influenced by the CIA such as in the run up to the Iraq Wars, but as long as I can remember, there have always been alternative sources that expose some of the chicanery being spat out by the MSM. Is the press and electronic media in today's Russia free and open? Are there websites like Rense, Prison Planet, Stormfront and other anti-government sites allowed to operate freely there? Obviously the western mass media has suggested that Russian media today has turned back into something similar to the days of Tass and that other anti-government mediums are strictly controlled and harshly punished as they would be in the old USSR. What is your take sir? Thanks

Russia hasn't covered up their alien experiences as much as the US or other nations have.

They kind of just dismiss it as a whatever.

In fact, much of the best evidence we have has come out of Russia.

It focuses on one of my favorite scientists, J Allen Hynek, who was hired by the government to debunk UFO reports and ended up becoming a true believer. He is considered to be the father of scientific UFO studies. No doubt it will be mostly fabrications but the basis for the story is real.

Spielberg hired Hynek as a consultant for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Hynek came up with the classification system of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd kind and made a cameo appearance in the movie. He is also the one who first dismissed a famous reported UFO event as swamp gas. But before long he changed his tune. A number of scenes in the movie were based on real events investigated by Hynek; including the police chase scene. However in the real event, multiple departments were involved over two States.

That doesn't make it compelling to anyone but a psychogist studying mass delusion. People are simply easily fooled and will believe all manner of complete nonsense. I am sure the guy in the corner with a sandwich board and bullhorn would pass a lie detector test when he insists his houseplants talk to him.

There is zero good evidence of any of this. So talking about the "best" evidence is like talking about the best smelling poop.

Comete nonsense,of course. They easily could have been misidentifications, as people hallucinate, are easily fooled, experience delusions, form false memories, lie, etc.

When a bank is robbed, the employees are separated and asked to write independent reports and asked not to talk to each other before doing it. Do you know why that is?

There are cases with multiple witnesses and RADAR confirmations. consider this for example

I already posted this but you just ignored it.

Now you are just demonstrating your ignorance. Look at the first pages of the this thread, for starters. If you just going to ignore evidence posted then you are just being obtuse.

So what? People get confused and their minds fill in gaps in their understanding. People just naturally have a hard time accepting blanks in information. This is the basis of optical illusion, which is just the surface of a deeper phenomenon which is the tendency for the human mind to invent information that does not exist in order to form a complete understanding of an event.

And you have had a habit in this thread of presenting anecdote as fact, and leaving it to the audience or to the person on the other side of this to sort through this, which is a charlatan's tactic.

There is plenty of good evidence.

Have you seen the new declassified Roswell photos?

It is a crashed jet. You can clearly see the engines and wings.

That is not good evidence. It represents the sort of claims that discredit credible information. Please don't try to help make the argument!!!

The NSA document I posted about the Iran event is good evidence. For a long time it could be argued that it was some kind of classified technology. But that can now be ruled out because it was over 40 years ago. Beyond that, the event was declassified once Soviet and Chinese technology had been ruled out. With multiple witnesses including the initial reports, two pilots, tower operators, a general, in additional to weapons systems and avionics failures, direct responses to the pursuit by fighter jets, and multiple RADAR tracks, it cannot be dismissed as having a prosaic explanation.

It isn't proof of ET but there are no known explanations that account for this well-documented event.

English is the only language allowed on the forum you're not allowed to post videos of foreign languages even with subtitles

I'm sure even asking for any Russian translation of anything is heresy here
