Perhaps but spending untold billions and untold American lives without it is not going to go over well with our population. Then while we can tear and take apart any repeat any military of any nation but then what when you are facing the population of a nation state that for the most part hate our guts. We do not ourselves have a large enough population to place enough boots on the ground to rule them against their wishes.

It's not a yes or no question. It's open-ended. There aren't enough answers included but there is a none of the above so I guess it's okay I would have included. "He means to seize more power" which I think is the only real reason he does anything. He will not be sated until he is the only real power in America.
If we are going to act in a similar manner to the Germany military in the 30s and 40s there is no reason to think that we will get difference results.
