after the Trump shutdown, too many are afraid to return back to work... without testing

when the White House experienced one case, they went all out with testing, daily testing, the fear is real, even in the White House

Trump can say whatever he wants, but people see how he responds when it's them

I think the depression will hit in less than ten years, depends how long the fed can keep dumping trillions into the economy and the dollar still be worth something

the depression is coming, the virus may have delayed it some, but it's coming

Closing was to conserve hospital resources, period.
It was never a out preventing infections.
It was about spreading them out.
    Time to open.
    Some of us actually work.
    I know it's a radical concept.

It makes more sense to give a stimulus when the mom and pop businesses start to open up. The previous stimulus only the few businesses that were open were able to get any of the stimulus money.

I think one will be passed but with re structuring.... probably another direct payment like the last one but I can't see why Democrats version is giving double to state governments that they're giving to the people. These people pay sales tax gas tax etc so the state governments will get increased tax revenue so cut out the state middle man imo when you've got Jerome Powell saying this:

"Noting that the Fed can lend but not spend money, he urged Congress to provide “additional fiscal support” beyond the nearly $3 trillion in programs it already has passed to support distressed households and businesses"

I'd say they'll be another round

A valid point. I suspect that most people that didnt just save their stimulus spent it on essential items like food and such so not sure if mom & pops missed out on much that round. I can say that shoppers have taken to phase 1 in Florida with a vengeance, stores were very busy yesterday and restaurants had a good number of patrons too.

It was surprisingly busy. I didn't expect to see that much so soon

I also wonder if some of what's happened economically speaking over the past few months might take a little time before the ramifications are truly and fully felt..

Also will the economy take another massive downturn in the fall/winter with a resurgence of Corona? If so couldn't one argue to booster economic growth as much as possible in the meantime?

I do not get why republicans gave many more times more to the corps then the people - I am sure republicans will want more for the corps this go round too

Probably but I think it's a fairly safe bet that there will be another direct payment.

Social distancing, is to flatten the curve. Testing, contact tracing and isolation, is to KILL the spread.

    An unrealistic expectation.

We can all enjoy starvation and economic collapse if killing the spread is the goal. Thats moving the goal posts.

So from now on, anytime we have a virus, we shut everything down, and humans never build antibodies to combat mother nature leading to more frequent and devastating pandemics?

Bad plan. We need to let people get sick so long as our medical system has capacity to treat them.

Your plan means death, by triple, if not a lot more. You are consigning whole generations to death. You show no compassion, nor reverence whatsoever, wisdom or strengths. History, contributions. Nothing, DIE! That is so cold SOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE may say, that is [sycopathic, far from me to say that.

And, its not good business. And you will see that soon. Letting folks die, will haunt you.

How is it for the people? It seems to mainly be for blue states who have run their states into fin ruin.

I haven't seen today's news on the progress of the next stimulus negotiations, because I was working, but yesterday I saw that the second stimulus check of $1200 passed the House and went to the Senate. It's loaded up with Democrats' wish list.

Now it's the Republican Senate's turn to put in their wish list.

Time for Republicans to climb on a soapbox and bellow their piece. It means nothing.

This next week, starting Monday, Senate Republicans will negotiate what they want to get the bill to pass. Then over next weekend, they will talk with the House to see the middle ground with House Democrats to see what will pass both sides of congress.

Trump can also put in his demands. I'm not sure what he wants, but I seem to remember he wants a tax cut, or something.

The generations you speak of are generally retired. Why can't they stay home and everybody else go to work?

Oh, I'm compassionate. Both of the elderly that are more susceptible to virus leading to death, and people killing themselves because of financial ruin. I'm compassionate about the struggle of small mom and pop shops, and people who don't know how to put the next meal on the table. I'm compassionate about massive amounts of food going to waste because of supply chain break downs. I have lots of compassion, just not the kind that makes me align with irrational agendas and goals.

And when we are in the midst of the next Great Depression (with a D), will you assume the responsibilty of starving children and bread lines. Will you own that?
