I commend Trump for firing this chicken hawk scumbag. However what the hell was he thinking when he hired him in the first place?

Trump started with some (a few) competent people in his staff. He lowered the level by firing them all and substituting them with incompetent ones. Then he went lower and fired the incompetent staff, and started hiring Fox pundits. Now that he's firing the Fox pundits... what's next? At this rate, how long will it take him to make the next logical move in this progression: start pardoning criminals like Manafort and Flynn and appointing convicted felons to be in charge of our national security...

This is an easy question for you. Think carefully. Choose one, A or B
    A. Are you happy Bolton is gone
    B. Are you sad Bolton is gone.

Even someone like Bolton is better than trump because he understands international politics. trump could start WWIII just by being arrogant and ignorant. And interestingly, the dispute was apparently over the Taliban vising Camp David. Bolton protested and this led to a heated discussion. Bolton was asked to resign shortly after. So on this one, Bolton was doing the right thing. And he was proven right when trump ended up cancelling because they bragged about killing Americans.

What worries me is that he has created a vacuum. Who is there to stop him from doing the unimaginable? Who will stop him if he tries to launch a nuclear strike?

This one is especially bizarre. Trump is against foreign involvement and would like the U.S. to stand down in the Middle East. Okay, fine. I don't especially agree, but fine. Therefore, why he would hire a guy known as the biggest chickenhawk warmonger in the history of Washington? Bolton could never be confirmed by the Senate and had to enter through the back door. Nearly everybody that met the guy hated his guts. All of this was common knowledge.

One could almost count the minutes before this hyperactive, opinionated blabbermouth got crosswise with Trump. Of course Trump's idea to sneak the Taliban to Camp David was a typical Trump grandstanding idea, i.e. insane. Then Trump bragged about 'it was his idea and his alone and he told nobody (well, maybe a bush in the Rose Garden),' especially, I assume, John Bolton. Bolton's head must have exploded. Trump and Bolton lashing it out in the Oval Office. I'd give a Social Security check to see that one.:dual:

As a BTW, There is an emerging consensus among U.K., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia that sharing delicate intelligence info with the U.S. may not be the brightest idea. In short, none of them trust the "Stable Genius" in the White House. He already spilled the beans on Israel then bragged about it to the Russians!:eyepopping:

Trump's White House resembles an insane asylum run by Mr. Hyde.

Possibly the only one there more dangerous than Trump himself. I kept expecting him to just grab the nuke football one morning and send us all to Australia to await the Death Cloud. I don't often praise the Orange Don but GOOD work and GOOD riddance here.

A! I am also concerned that his replacement might be even worse, given how terrible this President has been at selecting his staff. And that no sane or competent person wants to work with President Sharpie anymore. Though it's hard to imagine that Trump could find anybody worse than Bolton, he just might surprise us.

It is my understanding that the policy differences between Donald Trump and John Bolton eventually became so very severe that the former no longer wished to have the latter on his team. (Bolton was usually more hawkish.)

As a general rule, I found myself more inclined toward John Bolton.

Nonetheless, it is the president who makes the ultimate decisions. And he is entitled to have whatever team he wants.
