He's a green card holder and one of our journalists. Or should I say was. He counts here.

Because he should not and No American president should put US interests in jeopardy because they murdered one of their own citizens.

You want to take issue with trump not speaking out when the US puts to death criminals with borderline handicapped IQ levels, fine I will yell along with you. But this guy is NOT an American. I am sick of America paying an economic cost or even worse a cost in lives because some do-gooder got his panities in a bunch. I voted for clinton, but he is right- American interests first

you mean because he has a work visa he is one of us. No wonder you want to open the borders and welcome all and legitimize criminal who crossed our borders illegally. Your low bar of what it means to be an American speaks loudly.

I don't want open borders and he had a green card, not a visa. Those are not the same thing. A work visa would mean he is temporarily allowed to work here. A green card means he is allowed to live here indefinitely, qualifying for citizenship after 5 years of doing so. He came here legally and obtained permanent residence legally. This was his home.

he was not an American Citizen and it did not occur on American soil. He lived in the US for one year, and by live here I mean he had a residence.

I place a far larger loss on any murder of any US citizen, in any area, of any race, than I do of Jamal Khashoggi murder. Just because he was a reporter for the WAPO doesn't place any additional significance on his death.

He pissed off the Saudi ruling family with his writings, then walks into one of their facilities, sounds idiotic to me. I wonder if he had an appointment?

And it is a fact that both parties deindustrialized this nation, devastating the middle class and working people as well. The goal that trump seems to have is to bring back industry, by using tariffs, which is what our founders put into place in order to build up our own industry. Is industry important to any nation. You better well believe it.

Globalism is a scheme to max out profits of the top, and nothing more than that. That a democrat would agree with it just shows us old democrats just how far the DP has gone to become corporate/banking/elite stooges. And the sad thing is, modern dems could not care less! And they wonder why trump whipped their arses? ha ha ha. Now, granted, I do not think trump will beat the globalists, but it will take a long battle, over decades to reverse this insanity, of creating optimum disparity in income for the few at the top. And stop the exploitation of the world's poor that is the foundation of globalism. As it wrecks middle classes created by industrialization and fair wages. The dems are no friend or ally of the working and middle class, but once upon a time they were. And since they are not these days, trump is president. He may not be their savior, granted, but at least he ran as if he would be. Hillary did not. She represents what is wrong with the DP just as Obama represented that. Most of america is not upper middle or upper class and that is who both parties have represented for decades. You will find it in congressional record used by the Princeton Study. So it is a fact, which trumps your facts. And places your facts into a more realistic perspective.

Disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi --Why we should care
First, as a human being, you should care whenever another human gets murdered. But as an American, we should all care when a national leader feels it's OK to murder someone they regard as a political opponent--and especially when that victim is a member of the press. Our founding fathers identified the free press as our main guardian over corruption in government. Anytime a reporter is murdered for political reasons, there's cause for concern. Both corruption & human rights issues are directly involved, and both impact all of us personally--including you.

Which is terrible, but they are not killed in the Mexican consulate by the Mexican government in a foreign country, which is a key difference.

After years of fighting terrorism with the help of SA how much information does SA have on the CIA and it's interrogation methods that have led to the deaths of suspected terrorists? Do you really think the CIA wants this information out there? Does the US government want this information out there? Maybe a certain party and liberal MSM should careful about who they accuse of murder. The Obama administration might be held accountable for their actions in the fight against terrorism with the help of Saudi Arabia who know doubt has recorded many of the interrogation sessions by the CIA.

Meh the leftness would rather see the Saud and the US lose their alliance. They know the Saud is the Checkdown on the Iranians. Without the US the Saud would have serious trouble dealing with Iran.

The Lame Stream is making a big deal about it due to the guy working for WAPO. If this was someone working for the Washington Times or any other Right leaning paper. There would be crickets.

Interesting that they would believe Turkey who wants to gain control of the ME. Of course anything that hurts the US. The left will support that. Smart powers remember.

We, the world, should care about that fact that Trump doesn't care about the horrific murder of Jamal Khasoggi.
This might be the first time something happened that is not, strictly, under his control. (Hurricane's excluded.)
If Trump is rattled by it, it doesn't show; he has been his usual zombie-like self.

That means not a whiff of empathy by him about Jamal Khashoggi's fate. A brick wall has more emotions than Trump.

The world should care about the fate of Jamal Khashoggi because Trump won't care and can't be made to care. Narcissists are like that.

If the fate (and by that I mean the body) of Jamal Khasoggi remains hidden then Trump might well claim the murder never happened.

No doubt, soon, he'll blame the whole thing on his fake news conspiracy.

Wait! He already started that today, didn't he?

    upload_2018-10-19_20-26-48.png

Who knows, Trump might do that little ridicule act for us at one of his Nuremberg-style rallies; mocking the reality of a world he simply cannot deal with.

Like Senator Greg Gianforte who beat the s**t out of a Guardian journalist.
For Trump that is just one big joke, isn't it?. The fact that someone got hurt doesn't move him at all. If it even registers in his mind.

The world should care that Trump doesn't care about the fate of Journalist Jamal Khasoggi.

Because for Trump, in the end, daily life is just another opportunity to deny reality.
    His real enemy.

It is a most dangerous state of mind.

All I can say is. . .as an individual & as an American, if we find that Americans have done the kinds of things you suggest, I would support those Americans responsible being charged as criminals and, if found guilty, punished appropriately. I don't subscribe to the illusion that we can behave in ways that break international law under the umbrella excuse that we're doing it for our country. If we wish to advocate for human rights, we must live up to that advocacy at all times. My only exception would be for participation in a war, where inhumanity becomes the rule.

The US is at war on terrorism, so I'm guessing it applies any possible inhumanities they may have been committed the US? SA also is fighting a war on terrorism and the journalist was being interrogated for his connections to terrorist groups when he was "accidentally" killed in a fist fight. Does your exception also apply to SA? I do appreciate your constructive reply. Thanks.

Saudi Arabia believes JK has strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization SA claims to be a terrorist group. I don't know why else a high ranking SA general would want him interrogated.

“You can hear his voice and the voices of men speaking Arabic,” a source told the Washington Post. “You can hear how he was interrogated, tortured and then murdered.”

The Muslim Brotherhood (at least the version of it in Egypt) actually is a terrorist organization. I think there's an organization with the same name in the US, but don't believe they've been described as a terrorist organization -yet.

I've heard of this recording of his interrogation, supposedly obtained from some Apple watch he was wearing, the Turks deny they've provided anyone with such a recording, it seems unlikely they'd find something like this if a high-ranking Saudi general was sent there to question the man. No other evidence (besides the video of his arrival at the consulate) exists. Who is it that says he recognized the reporter's voice, is he a relative, friend, someone who has heard the reporter often?

The Apple watch theory was disproved. Blue tooth devices can't transfer to other devices that far away. The audio was obtained by the Turks, but as of yet they haven't provided any information on how they obtained the audio. The Saudi's have admitted to killing the guy during an interview. A fist fight killed him according to SA. The also claim the journalist's body was given to a Turk collaborator to dispose of. No more information provided on that claim.

Nice ... and I am sick of his American hypocrisy only to slander the moralists when it concerns an incident in a "hostile" country ... but fall silent with their friends and shrug their shoulders!

If the Russians actually did really poisoning Skripal, then in your logic it is the same as the Saudi journalist here ... or since when is Skripal American or it happened on American soil?

Interesting, and quite difficult questions. First, declaring war on a group doesn't automatically permit us to kill someone or some group in a premeditated fashion. Khashoggi was a civilian, a working reporter, and a human being. He dared to write about egregious inhumanities perpetuated by the Saudi monarchy against its own people. The monarchy responded by murdering him. That's not war. That's corruption. They now say Khashoggi was connected to terrorists. But they declared him guilty after his murder. If they suspected guilt, why not capture him & put him on trial? Because they didn't honor his human rights. This was political murder, pure & simple. But no politicians have the right to murder their legitimate opposition. This behavior is a good illustration for why our founding fathers were so united in their opposition to monarchies in general. Monarchies tend to claim they are above the law when they are empowered. No one should be above the law.
