I know we have other polls on this subject but I'd like to put it down to bare bones. Do you think it was the right decision or not? I say no, this is a travesty of justice.

They did not prove beyond reasonable doubt that there was malicious intent. The jury succumbed to public pressure to issue a popular verdict instead of a just one. The mob got its way, thus this will become a norm in high profile cases. The justice system is becoming a popularity contest.

The follow up trials will be interesting. There's a strong pecking order on police departments when it comes to "who's the senior officer". It's a 'whatever he says goes' environment. Some rookies would pee their pants before questioning a senior officer.

This isn't about cops. When the burden of proof can be substituted with popular opinion, not only can the innocent be prosecuted for merely being unpopular, but the guilty can be unprosecutable so long as they are able to appeal to the emotions of the mob.

...there are some people who want the system to work this way. Namely, those with the means to manipulate the emotions of the mob. Those with the means will be able to target the 'justice' system against their enemies while remaining immune to it themselves, effectively co-opting the delegated authority of the state as a weapon for their own empowerment.

The forensic experts disagree with you
Ex police officers disagree with you
His on department disagree with you

The only people really saying he did nothing wrong are the same people that say police never do anything wrong. People screaming “blue lives matter” to criminal cops with a huge complaint record and video of their misdeeds are very similar to those screaming “black lives matter” to someone that got shot when they were about to stab someone.

It is ironic how similar both groups are.

The video showed malicious intent. You could tell he really didn’t give a f***.

    I hope prison enjoys him

I could possibly have agreed with the charge of 2nd-degree manslaughter, but the 'murder' raps were nothing but overwrought bullshit!

So, since the verdict(s) did include manslaughter AND the idiotic 'murder' charges, I had to vote "no".

There was no shortage of evidence. The police had best learn that people are not going to take their "kill first ask questions later "form of law enforcement.

Everyone who watched the trial would have realised the camera DOES lie.

When on earth did THAT ever happen?

There was a 'shoot first' law enforcement curriculum being taught some years ago. Its hard to find stuff about now, but it was being pushed by DHS for a while. Its basic premise was if cops take time to assess a percieved threat before reacting to it, they get injured more often and cost the taxpayer more money.

    WTF?

They have EMPATHY for a COLD BLOODED KILLER and NOTHING for his hapless VICTIM?

That is just PERVERTED in ALL aspects.

    Sad!

So many times people are rioting over it. It must be nice to be a cop and have a badge to kill without reproach and the added expense in the demise of society over there never ending need to subjugate the masses.

I did and it didn't come close to a beyond a reasonable doubt and they jury failed to carry out it's duty because the verdict was predetermined.

The trick was to just use one of the camera's from a bad angle. They jury rejected all the other cameras.

I can't complain about the judge here other than I disagreed with his ruling about not the other witness in the car who took the 5th. We'll see that on a appeal the judge said he could not force the prosecutor to give limited use immunity to force him to testify I have heard from some legal experts he could have. Other than that I think he was reasonable and fair.
