    You said NO APPROVAL

"The FDA's decision to grant an emergency approval"

Have you withdrawn that claim yet?

    Really?

    Where did I say that?

Where is the link to where I made that allegation?

I presume doctors always lie about prescribing placebos, otherwise they wouldn't be placebos.

Why would that be a HIPAA violation if your Covidiot-in-Chief already publicly revealed that he was taking HCQ?

I think they would lose their license unless they were part of a controlled study and the subjects were informed and signed a waiver acknowledging the fact they MAY get the placebo.

It wouldn’t be if trump released his prescription or allowed the doctor to talk about it.

It wouldn't be one to ask his doctor's questons...but it would be if his doctor gave up information without his consent. Nor would it be one if Trump showed everyone his script.

Yes I presume so as well. That wasn’t my question. Nice try though. The AMA says prescribing placebos without consent is unethical. I’m probing your personal position on lying since everyone is so spun up about Trump doing so. It appears there are people allowed to, no encouraged to lie, and others who are not supposed to. Is that accurate?

If we are talking an outright sugar pill, sure. But doctors can and do prescribe unrelated medicines or concentrations too low to have any actual effect beyond the placebo effect.

It would have to do with the specifics of the action and the intent behind it, not based on some people can/some people can't. Who the person is doesn't matter. But, yes, I'd say there are situations when it is okay to lie and situations when this is not the case.

Lying to save someone's life? Most likely okay.
Intentionally deceiving someone in a way that could put them at risk and/or only to benefit yourself? Not so much.

    Do you disagree?

And most believe it to be unethical. And in this case it has been "sugar pills" being asserted and the physician to the President lying about what treatment he is providing.

Lying about a medical treatment to me, unethical. Don't you agree? I would seek another doctor.

See my previous post. It depends on the circumstances.

An example where I might consider it ethical:

A patient goes to a psychiatrist complaining of anxiety. The patient has a history of substance addiction and the psychiatrist, who has been seeing the patient for months, does not believe the patient requires medication, although the patient keeps requesting it. Would the doctor be justified in prescribing an anti-anxiety medication at a placebo-level dosage, which carries less risk of addiction, in order to see if the placebo effect takes care of the symptoms before upping the dosage to a non-placebo level if he needs to? Perhaps.

Intent? How do we define that? What about lying to save your own life? Does that only benefit yourself? What about a lie that kills a few today but saves many in the future?

We now know about 25% of people don’t have enough free dopamine to benefit from a placebo. So prescribing an impure placebo (which almost all prescribed placebos are), puts that 25% at risk from side effects of that impure placebo with no positive effect. So you are lying to that person, knowing the lie will almost certainly harm them in some way. Are you ok with a president telling lies if that lie may help a certain percentage of people? Isn’t it possible a lie told by a president could have positive psychological effects on some people’s health? And why would it harming some others matter? It doesn’t seem to matter when doctors do it.

Focus on the fact that Trump is a threat to American's national security and health. Biden has already garnered presumptive nominee status noting that he does not pose a threat to national security and the health of America.

If you want to argue that all lying is wrong, fine, do that. I don't believe you actually believe that. If you want to argue that all lying is morally permissible, I both disagree with you and I don't believe you actually believe that. There are times and situations where it is okay to lie and times and situations when it is not. People can debate about the specifics.

Trump has lied, many, many times in order to enhance his image and fatten his wallet. He's faked his identity to plant false news stories about people, he's cheated customers, he's cheated contractors, he's cheated investors, he's cheated lenders. He doesn't do this try to help anyone but himself, and he's often done so at the expense of others.

You don't have to care. I do.

To you, perhaps, but I think it''s safe bet that a majority of the electorate want Trump out of office, and 'clown' being one of the reasons.

So, every time a person states an opinion, he or she must preface that it is an opinion? Rather cumbersome, eh?

    It's a given.

When you say "I think", by definition that is an opinion. Saying something is a fact is a lot more difficult to prove.

Personally, I considered Obama to be a bigger threat to national security because he allowed the US military to deteriorate to where more than half the units were no longer combat ready.
