Do you get taxed on foreign unemployment checks?

    If you are a US citizen, work abroad, then get laid off and collect unemployment cheques there, do you have to pay US taxes on those?

    It is unfair enough that theUS taxes earnings that don't originate in the US and don't get remitted to the US, but does the US steal your last dime too with this?

    I am sooooo curious about this.
