I was born in London in England in the UK in November 1986, I love my country. I love my country, why? Because of where I'm from. When I found out Slash was from here and was one of my own, well, it's a great country and all, but that was awesome.
Denmark St; London! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjquS2cBa6w (All bought on Denmark St)... Some of the best guitars I've seen in Europe here.
Yes, I do love my country. It's beautiful, it's first world, it's got a lot of great people in it, and it's free. My neighborhood ....
My neighbourhood's amazing. Purple Haze was recorded on Dean Street by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and television was invented on Frith Street.
My other neighbourhood's kind of Gangster, but I like the community spirit of Thornton Heath in the town of Croydon.
I don't love abstractions. I love people that I know. I have a sort of mildly mushy affection for some abstractions with longstanding concrete ties to my life. My state Oregon and my country fit there. A lot of familiarity with its history, its traditions, its ideals create a 'feel good' aura. But that is not love.
I was going to go to Oregon in April, planned for it and planned for it all summer, but that's not happening; so I figure Oregon next year. Was looking at Eugene/Springfield for a week or two and a day in Portland to see Portland. That was like a 17 hour flight (or something) change in Salt Lake City or Seattle to fly into Eugene, and the one direct flight from London to Portland's seasonal and I couldn't find tickets for this April 18th - May 4th rtn for that so I decided 17 hours is better to Eugene than 17 hours transfer somewhere else anyway for Portland to try head into Eugene that way when Eugene has that airport there anyway.. Would have been cool; I'm going to be so bummed in London when I should have took off.
You should be bummed. Oregon is gorgeous in the spring. Whether you are heading to the mountains, or the coast or old growth forest, or the high dessert regions of south eastern Oregon, Oregon is beautiful.
don't love or hate my country, it's just where I live and I've been to many fantastic places where I'd be just as happy...I love my family and that's why I live where I do....
I love my country because we have democracy and the rights of minorities and freedom of speech with a healthcare system to take care of the vulnerable. I would love to see a democracy and rights of minorities and freedom of speech and a privatised healthcare system with competition among private limited and publicly traded and non profit to replace the current health care system for a better health care while rewarding charity and making commerce and trading easier to bring the jobs and quality and to look after the vulnerable while raising the quality, lowering the price with competition which could see investors willing to invest in medical research which having a nationalised health service stops. A lack of competition and dependence on the only healthcare in town is why we wait weeks for scans and ultrasounds, and 6 hours in A&E (ER).
