I'm skeptical. US politics are on a demographic freight train that's chugging along regardless of "events dear boy, events." Are there actually lots of registered voters who are willing to be persuaded to switch sides? That's old thinking and I don't think it applies to US politics anymore.
Ah but a third of the electorate are independents and how they swing determines elections and right now I'm battleground states there running heavily against impeachment in the latest polls even in ones that generally lean heavily Democrat.
You can have a multicultural empire without wanting to spread death to Israel. Plenty of Muslims are not anti Semitic who support Boris Johnson
"independents" There are lots of people who are registered to vote as independents for various reasons, but still maintain party preferences. This isn't the 1980's anymore. The number of true independents who can be persuaded seems quite small.
LOL! The dems better take note: liberal progressivism is dead. The people are rejecting globalism and liberalism.
Most of those on the left calling themselves Independent, I call them closetted democrats. They haven't got the memo that in 2019 it's ok to get out of the closet and be who you are. We'll even invent a new pronoun just for you...
In the days of Trump it's the other way around. A lot of people simply would prefer not to deal with visceral hatred of the far left so they call themselves independents but vote Trump any way because Dems aren't offering rational solutions to real problems these days.
The Lessons 1: Never go full Socialist: Just don't... 2: Learn to accept prior election results: Pervasive resentment about attempts to overturn the Brexit result contributed to this outcome. People have no interest in overturn previous democratic election results. Impeachment advocates may want to take notice. 3: No Working Class People; No Win: The following chart show the performance Labour and the Tories have with attracting working class people. It has an R-Squared of 0.62, which means that higher the share of workers in low-skilled jobs in a constituency, the better the Tories did. Simply put, you need to be able to appeal to working class people, not the ideologues in the political parties. Democrat Primary Candidates may want to learn to speak to real people, which brings me to by fourth lesson. 4: Get Off Social Media: Normal people are not as politically engaged as you may seem. They're willing to accept a flawed candidate who speaks to them. Real voters aren't on social media; stop allowing the Twitteraiti to determine what are acceptable politics.
Why can't you have a party preference and be independent? If you only care about a few issues and a certain party aligns with your views on those issues, it would only make sense to be an independent if you're not entire married to the core philosophy of said political party.
The problem with socialist and Marxists is that they actually believe all men are brothers and coexist bumper stickers mean something deep and personal and that religion and governments are the only reason people can't get along. Never mind that anthropology, history and archeology basically reveal that among the first things we learned to do was kill each other and that was way before any of those things existed. People will manufacture reason to kill those who are sufficiently different especially when stressed. The subway bombing when combined with the EU trying to park a few 1000 more Middle Eastern Muslims in Britain and add to that the absolutely ridiculous manner in which the British authorities handled the case of the Muslim sex traffickers in Young girls has as much to do with Brexit as anti socialist sentiment perhaps more. Simply put the working man began to believe that not only was Labor and the EU no longer on his side but that they were actually operating in opposition not only to his interests but against his personal safety and that of his family. Of course the opposition will call it racist but then the same sort of thing would happen if Labor had turned lose all the arsonist and issued them each a back pack full of kitchen matches.
Most likely... Current government will remain... The rich will get richer The poor will get poorer Homeless population will increase Prison population will increase Domestic terrorism will increase Infrastructure will be neglected Healthcare costs will rise Drug costs will rise Population will increase Housing costs will rise Food costs will rise National debt will increase Minimum wage will decrease The EPA will be abolished Climate change will continue to wreak havoc There will be wars and rumors of wars How about you? What do you see happening in 2020?
I don't disagree with that, and I'm sure that describes plenty of independents, but practically, it means if your only issue is pro-life, you are pretty much stuck voting for Republicans, even if you would also like Medicare for All. And if pro-Abortion is your issue, but you like Trump's tax cuts and deregulation, you're still going to be voting almost always for Democrats.
The Scottish Nationalist Party picked up more seats in Scotland increasing the likelihood that they will again seek a split from the United Kingdom.Northern Ireland is also much closer to voting for reunification with the Irish Republic and becoming part of the EU.Scotland when they split with England also wants to be in the EU.
I think the Brit results are very bad news for the continuing efficacy of propagandistic mass media. They are going to have to get smarter to fool people smarter than their traditional stupid blocs, and start proffering policy more than "free stuff."
SNP can't call for another referendum without the approval of the rest of the country. As I said previously, it takes two to tango. If they don't have or don't want to ask they can always declare their independance unlaterally, but this will mean open confrontation and Scotland will lose.
That really depends on whether brexit actually happens. I've long had my doubts, and years later it still hasn't happened. If Johnson does accomplish it, it will have a million cogs thrown into it to destroy the UK economy, just as Trump has faced from the media and democrats. This is the war, and the brits need to understand that despite wins against labour, there are plenty of tories like Teresa May who will do everything they can to sabotage brexit.
