I've raised Ovtcharkas, from Red-Star Kennels, don't give me this ignoramus nonsensical lumping of people together about larger dogs.

Some people can raise mastiffs, others shouldn't. However you have no right to decide that for them.

There's no reason whatsoever to breed, raise nor own these massive dogs other than a small-minded urge to make some kind of statement, usually a macho one.

ANY animal that is mistreated (just like people) can turn violent, or just not know how to properly behave around people. Dogs are not "killers" towards humans in most instances. There are MILLIONS of dogs, and incidences of attacks in relation to the sheer number of dogs is quite small, probably smaller than instances of humans assaulting other humans. Like I told you before, if you don't want to have a dog, then the solution is simple. Don't have a dog. You don't have a right to dictate to others though.

That is nothing more than your own close minded opinion on the matter. Means absolutely nothing to anyone else.

If you had a toddler and was stupid enough to own one of these killer breeds, and the worst happened, would you simply write it off as 'Oh well, there are millions of other toddlers out there who haven't had chunks ripped out of their precious little bodies, so hey, let's just put it down to a one-off.'? Of course you wouldn't!! You'd realise (too late? ) how wrong and irresponsible you'd been, and mourn your loss for the rest of your life, never mind the flash-backs you'd be having every day whenever you remember finding your child in a pool of blood with body parts missing. It has nothing to do with 'wanting a dog', it's all to do with not choosing one known to have volatility and aggression in its genetic code, and which is big enough to cause catastrophic disfigurements and death to human beings? So you see - 'the solution' isn't quite as simple as you obviously believe. Jesus am I really having to point all that out? WTF is it with you doggy people?! :wall:

Now you'll have read my post above, maybe you'll have the humility to retract your peremptory dismissal and who knows - even apologise to me?

You act as if EVERY dog attacks babies. Please. This is obvious hyperbole. You take necessary precautions, just like with anything else. Are you going to ban bleach because some toddlers die when they get into it and drink it? You have some kind of odd phobia of dogs. That is your problem, not everyone else's. Just don't own a dog. If a parent is negligent and their child dies from something, whether that be a dog, falling out a window, getting into poison, then the law will deal with them.

Why should I apologize to you for your strange hatred and distrust of dogs? You are the ONLY one with the issue here.

Alright then, don't - see if I care!! But I have no problem with dogs, it's their stupid bloody owners I have a problem with.

Well children die by drowning in swimming pools MUCH more often than in any dog attacks. A death due to dog attack is relatively RARE. It is not even on the top 10 causes of death in the US, so it just doesn't add up that you would be so upset over dogs but not about swimming pools or other car accidents.

 This is obviously the estrogen/testosterone thang going on! Yes, some dogs will 'attack babies' and some won't; the trick is knowing which ones will and which ones won't; and the second factor is - of the ones that do, which of them will cause the most damage. Answer. The biggest ones with the most powerful jaws??

Like I said, dog attacks are relatively rare here in the US. I don't know what the hell is going on over there in your country. MOST dogs will never attack any humans. PEOPLE are much more dangerous and kill way more babies and adults than any dogs.

Um, that's because we're discussing deaths by means of vice-like canine jaws, not the multiplicity of other ways kids can come to harm? You never did address my hypothesis apropos how you'd cope with your child being torn to shreds by your dog, but I won't press you on that, save to say that one child killed or mutilated unnecessarily is one too many?

And just imagine the pain and the fear the child will be undergoing during the period of the attack until its eyes close for the last time on this earth? Think about it!!

Wow, talk about projecting your own issues on others.

You do realize, attempting to tickle someone's emotions based on what could happen, applies to every thing on this planet?

I recommend you do not drive, fly, walk, or run anywhere, after all, the damage it could do....

Spoken like a doggy person in denial, and owns a killer dog, or someone who has totally missed the whole point of the discussion.

I lost count of the number of times I have seen dogs **** or piss all over my friends homes or even worse at someone else's place. I know exactly three people who had issues with their cats spraying and that was quickly solved with a quick trip to the vet. Cats don't eat their own or other cats ****. Cats don't roll in said ****. Dogs are fun to play with but are disgusting, gross and incredibly needy pets to have.

I was on a crowded bus where among the passengers were a small breed dog on its owners lap, and an Alsatian at her side on a leash. Guess which one shat on the floor! The owner voiced no apology nor embarrassment whatsoever and . . . got off at the next stop. Then the driver cleared the vehicle with the explanation that he had to return to the depot for the floor to be steam cleaned.

    Watch this.

I've owned two of this breed. Gentle, discerning, fearless. Wonderful dogs.

I watched it for about 30 seconds then couldn't stand that 'woo'ing' noise any longer! But I suspect you know the breeds which I was alluding to. But what about the environmental impact these big breeds cause - I mean, the bigger the dog, the more . . . well, need I go on?
