The latest from the madhouse: 'We take paedophilia extremely seriously but we can't be bothered to do anything about it.' says chief Plod. 'low-risk'? I mean who can look at a known paedophile and assert he'll never assault another child for the rest of his worthless life? With fools like this in the senior ranks of a public service, no wonder poor ol' Blighty is in melt-down. Of course this has nothing whatsoever to do with the issue, it's about the fact there's not enough prison space to send them to.

Why send them to prison when you can just kill them.
It's cheap and it works.

It's not about the lack of prison space and the police are too busy arresting 300 paedophiles per month. The police chief made that statement to give police officers a break in terms of their workloads, probably at the expense of public safety.

It's a combination of the two - there are not enough prison spaces AND there are too many paedophiles for the useless police service to keep track of. This is the state of the depravity in our country, and the authorities find it easier to sacrifice children rather than get to grips with the scum. I know one thing - I'd sure like to get to grips with them, and by the time I finished none of them would ever abuse another child for as long as they live. They do it because they can, and have no fear of the consequences in the unlikely event of being discovered.

Ridiculous policy. The recidivism rates on these vermin run around 90%+, and this goes even for those who are claimed to have been 'castrated'. Kiddie raping isn't like shoplifting or stealing hub caps or something. I sincerely hope enough Brits concerned enough to make this Chief's life miserable until the policy is reversed. It's also a major magnet for kiddie rapers from the continent and beyond as well, in case this officer has forgotten where he is.

Got to be a few unpopulated islands around they can be dumped on. they can keep each other warm.

Just publish their names and addresses. if the police aren't watching them any more, it will all resolve itself.

Indeed - there are plenty of desolate islands off the northwest coast of Scotland that would suit; the nearest one to the Arctic Circle would do nicely?

Oh we can't have the public taking the law into their own hands, can we now - without the slight doubt they'd 'take that seriously' (should be the Plod's corporate logo? 'We take everything extremely seriously, but don't expect us to do anything about it.' lol ) And any unsuspecting member of the public who so much as shook their fist at a paedophile newly released into the community, and plod would come down on them like the proverbial ton of bricks. What a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing joke this country has become. This for example . . .

"Poppi Worthington: Cumbria Police failed in toddler death investigation"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-39139893

According to that litany of failings there's wasn't much left to get wrong? Poor little Poppi, that so much pain was her only experience of the world?

Precisely, which is why they and other criminals are flocking to the west - they don't fear the consequences of being caught. I'd go further, and say I'll bet that the law enforcement authorities in their home countries facilitate their journey by paying for the one-way ticket to get here. Honestly you couldn't make up this (*)(*)(*)(*).

OK, I’ll give it one shot though I expect I’ll just be ignorantly attacked by the “Won’t anybody think of the children!” knee-jerks;

This idea is about people who have been caught viewing low-level child porn online, who have never actually abused any children or pose any immediate threat of doing so. The idea is to treat these offenders with measures that actually reduce the risk of them abusing any children. If they’re sent to prison, literally nothing will be done to address their underlying problems and they’ll come out in a couple of months or years with no job prospects, a drug habit and contacts in the criminal world. If anything, just sending them to prison will increase the chance of them actually harming a child.

There are indeed pressures on the prison system but a major reason for that is all these calls for different types of people to be sent to prison for long periods of time but no will to actually pay for that every expanding prison capacity. The other problem is that prison is being presented as some kind of magical solution to these problems when the very best it can do as things stand is delay the inevitable.

If you want to actually solve these problems, you need to accept much more complex and difficult answers. If you just want to sweep them under the carpet so you can forget they exist, you have to accept you’re going to have a lumpy carpet.

I simply do not understand the liberal mind. It's literally like a foreign language to me; I read it but it doesn't sink in. In fact I actually I get bored reading it. The word 'wishy-washy' comes to mind.

Does that mean you didn’t read the article you linked, which would explain why you’re so clearly ignorant of what the police officer was actually proposing and instead went off on a rant against a strawman?

Of course I read it - it's just that I didn't read into it what you did. I read it that . . . no I really can't be bothered because discussing stuff with you makes my blood pressure go up alarmingly.

The problem with this 'logic' is that those viewing the stuff are creating the market for it in the first frigging place, encouraging the rape of children. And sooner or later many will want to act out their sicko fantasies. They are indeed just as much complicit in the problem as the perpetrators; they are participants in the acts. Of course, those with little sense will make simple-minded pseudo-intellectual apologia because they're narcissists who like to have this fantasy image of themselves as 'all enlightened and tolerant n stuff'; it's about their own egotism and seeing themselves as ersatz 'sophisticates' and not any genuine concern for anybody else.

"NAMBLA" logic - an extreme absolutist position which demands that for logical consistencies sake that certain gross crimes be allowed, in order that no one might feel restrained.

Yes. They will suddenly have all kinds of time and money to devote to prosecuting and confining somebody doing something about this sort of outrage. Phonies, all of them. They will protect sociopaths and psychopaths while threatening their future victims.

If they are so concerned with prison space, stop arresting people for possession of drugs and jailing and ruining their lives, particularly something harmless like pot. There are so many people with long sentences for just that, while rapists, pedophiles and people who have actually killed people do less time. (Sorry, just noted this isn't he US< I was unable to access the article so my argument probably doesn't apply)

Pedophiles are almost guaranteed to repeat offend, so I have little sympathy for them, they can likely never be reformed.

They also need to rethink the sex offender list. Statutory rape like an 18 year old and 16 year old, that should not land someone on the list where people think they are horrible and a danger. Someone caught taking a (*)(*)(*)(*) in public should not. Kids caught sending nude pics to their girlfriend or boyfriend should not be ruined by having to be on the list. Pedophiles, rapists, violent sexual assaults, those people need to be on the list

True, which is all the more reason to actually do something actually designed to prevent that outcome rather than just dumping them in prison for a while and pretending that makes the problem go away. I believe blindly supporting “lock ‘em up” as a solution actually makes you complicit in allowing more children to be abused.

No, it doesn't; lock them up and not letting them out is the solution, except for those who prefer death sentences; wouldn't bother me either way.. As I pointed out, the recidivism rates for these freaks is near 100%; no point in letting them out at all once they've been caught. It's nutty to let them out.

We’re not talking about actual abusers, we’re talking about people caught viewing images on-line. It could be a single incident of the lowest severity of material – still very much wrong but a world away from actually abusing a child.

Are you seriously suggesting that the tens of thousands of people convicted of this kind of offence should face automatic life imprisonment (a sentence that is currently applied to a handful of the most dangerous criminals in the UK at the moment)? That would double the UK prison population every few years for a lifetime!

Such as?? [IMG] I mean if you say 'I believe blindly supporting “lock ‘em up” as a solution actually makes you complicit in allowing more children to be abused' you must mean not lock 'em up, and that in turn means they'll be prowling the streets looking for more children to rape and violate, doesn't it? (well it does with my logic), which de facto makes you complicit in allowing children to be abused, not those of us who believe they ought to locked up. Now I'd better check my BP!

I regard them as human mutants because instead of protecting children which is in all our DNA, they actually harm them. And they're so cunning and adept at lying that they easily fool the authorities - often by using the 'excuse' that they themselves were abused in childhood. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing LIARS!

Didn't you already try that with Australia?

I don't recall any enforced mass deportation of paedophiles to Australia, so WTF are you talking about?
