I have been making that exact same point. And not just Russia and Ukraine... who knows how many other governments he has enlisted. What would keep Pompeo for negotiating some announcement, maybe in October... that Costa Rica is investigating whatever candidate the Democrats nominate for say... some sort of illegal "sexual activities"... in exchange for a few billion in aid?

What would they have to lose? If the Senate removes Trump, it will have made no difference. And if they don't, he will have a green light to abuse power to win the elections however he sees fit.

Perhaps I look at things bit differently. I think it's fine that the Democrats are worried about a Trump second term. So are independents. When I see how the election is shaping up, I see a number of trends that will impact the outcome. Trump's base already played its hand in 2016 when everyone in the base plus a lot of other on the fence showed up in a "less worst" election. That's about it for the 40%.

Women are supercharged for anybody but Trump. Women's marches are huge and growing. Suburban women went for Democrats in a big way in 2018, they will crawl through broken glass to get to the polls and vote against Trump. College educated with males aren't going to vote for Trump after all the anti intellectual slams his been lobbing. Young voters like Bernie and far left ideals, no votes for Trump there. Trump has done nothing for a very large voting block of over 50 million-seniors on fixed income. African - American voters? Over 80% think Trump is a racist. Independents are gone, gone, gone.

Trump has his base and that's about it. Economy? It's topped out and increasing numbers of voters are in two jobs to make ends meet. Wall Street? Who knows, but the Street has been on a free money tear for ten years and the debt (government and personal) is getting worrisome. If the bubble breaks - wow. Anyway, joe and jean voter don't much care about the DJIA. Are there moderate Republicans ready to grow a backbone hiding in a voting booth?????

    Anyway, that's my take.

What are Democrats campaigning on besides Orange Man Bad?

    Disarm America?

    Apologetic foreign policy?

    Pro Iran government?

    Tax the economy into oblivion?

"Son of a bitch, they dropped the investigation"?

Government control of everything and everybody?
