You are correct. This is a Current Event. The topic is Trump contradicting the head of an government department.
Someone who is an expert in his field. Someone trump appointed. Someone who bases his statements on facts and science.

This is about the president lying to the public.

    Yes, the thread belongs here.

Why are the left and the Democrats so fearful of a distributional COVID vaccine maybe as early as October?

The topic is Trump’s constant undermining of his own Corona virus task force.

Redfield told it like it is.

Trump is still talking about herd immunity (his excuse for doing nothing).

I’m not worried about a vaccine. I’ll be the first in line........as long as the medical experts endorse it.

Only a complete fool would take the word of Donald Trump.

Except it wasn't Trump who said it, it was the scientist Dr Hahn I believe that has headed up the logistics between the Military, HHS and FDA. The military is handling the distribution, 700 million doses by end of Q1 2021. They've already got 100 million ready to go as soon as FDA approves. He said the MSM is disgusting and creating a potentially deadly narrative by questioning the science behind this historic vaccine breakthrough. They've already got 51,000 locations across America to store and administer the vaccine. Pretty impressive if you would take the time to read the distribution plan on the HHS website.

Link to 100 million doses ready to go, just waiting for approval. Please.

Probably. Are you implying that the Democrats and left want any vaccine delayed because they fear its efficacy and validation? BUZZ! Wrong answer.

I just don't get it, why does he keep trying to spread misinformation like that? No one is going to hold it against him if a vaccine isn't ready to be distributed before the year ends, people are however going to hold it against him when he makes dishonest statements about when a vaccine will be ready

Yeah I think you misunderstood the issue completely here, the problem isn't about a vaccine being ready this year instead of next year, the problem is lying about a vaccine being ready this year, while doctors are saying it won't be ready until next year. Ultimately if a vaccine is ready, it is up to the doctors to make that determination, not politicians

Sorry I got his name wrong (Scott Atlas) but go to minute 17 of the press briefing and then the reporter questions to him minute 21, very informative.

They will start the first 100,000 to the most vulnerable high risk, first responders and minorities.

I will but just like the mask, I support your right not to take it and damn sure don't want the government telling you that it's required. That being said just like the mask, if you decide not to take it, I pray you don't get it and it cost you your life.

I asked a simple question. You pontificated on a discussion not broached.

I would be happy to have an effective vaccine.

And yet you let the government dictate what you have to wear every day. Why are the masks so special.

Doesn’t back up your claim. You said

They've already got 100 million ready to go as soon as FDA approves.

I have looked and I can’t find anything that supports your statement. Did you make it up or did you genuinely believe it? Or can you back it up?

Not doctors per se. Leaders of the FDA and CDC and NIH, who may be doctors, with significant input from pharmaceuticals will decide when the vaccine is ready. The president will not decide. The FDA, CDC, and NIH primarily on its efficacy and validation. The pharmaceuticals assisted by the administration on its distribution capability. Why do you say the president is lying? Do you know something about the vaccine production that he doesn't? Or does the CDC know something about its potential distribution that the president doesn't?

Trump has said it repeatedly, and over the course of several months.

When he first blustered that the “military” was going to be doing the distribution, the military was surprised, as they knew nothing about any plan (Trump just made it up, as he usually does). This is not the normal way vaccines get distributed.

700 million doses of something that does not exist yet is nothing more than a mirage.

Trump is committed to doing nothing, undermining his own task force, pointing fingers and using herd immunity as his “solution”./

We have the worst outcomes in the developed world because of this.

Dance all you want about imaginary vaccines. And try and hide behind it to defend the mismanagement. The results are on display every day.

The CDC knows a lot that trump doesn’t.

    Here’s the sequence of events
    - director of CDC gives sworn evidence to Congress
    - that evidence doesn’t fit with trump’s narrative. It doesn’t fit with his story that a vaccine will be ready, approved and rolled out very soon. If not before the election then very shortly after.
    - since the evidence doesn’t fit trump’s narrative, he claims the evidence is wrong.

This is pretty simple. Trump is making stuff up that sounds good and many people believe it. Just because he says it.

The country deserves honesty from the president. Not someone who makes up fairy tales and claims they’re true.

Politics. Its all about politics. These people have so much hate and anger in them that they would rather see people die than admit Trump did something good by fast tracking research and opening up funding.

Who's expressing fear of an earlier than expected vaccine?

The point here is that while the actual experts are trying to give us scientifically proven information about the efficacy of masks and the unrealistic expectations on the logistics of vaccine availability, Trump is countering with more of his "playing it down." It's as if he wants his supporters to get sick, even die.

Who do you believe? The head of the CDC, or a president with a history of lying and misleading who has admitted that playing down this virus has always been his preference? It seems like an easy choice to me, but I'm not in Trump's thrall.

"fast tracking research and opening up funding" are admirable actions, but that won't make a vaccine magically appear, ready to distribute in time for the election, which is what Trump truly cares about. He's blowing smoke as usual. Vaccines for complex viruses like this one, about which we are still learning, take time and effort. Fast-tracking through the FDA's often cumbersome approval process is only a good thing if the vaccine is still developed and tested through the usual rigorous trials.

Even if they have an effective vaccine by the end of October, it won't be mass produced and available to all of us for months. Redfield is right to give us the truth about what to expect, and Trump's negation of the science is dangerous and self-serving.

Why do I say he's lying? because what he is saying is contradictory to what every medical source who actually overseas and develops the vaccine is saying. Every source that makes the determination is saying it will not be ready this year

There is currently a global effort to have a vaccine readily available as soon as possible, so we're not just talking about establishing an approved formula, but having a vaccine manufactured and distributed on a global scale. Realistically speaking this is not expected to happen until mid next year at the earliest

It is the cacophony from Democrats that blusters that it is not ready whenever Trump or someone estimates that it possibly could be ready as early as late October. I assume that is from fear, not of the vaccine, but of losing an election.
.....the actual experts are trying to give us scientifically proven information about the efficacy of masks and the unrealistic expectations on the logistics of vaccine availability,....
No expert or anybody else has any scientifically proven information on the availability of an effective vaccine. That's "no" as in none, zero, nada. Nobody has any inherent (first hand) information about the logistics of distribution outside of the administration (including the military) other than what they have been told.

The CDC is not responsible for approving the vaccine and is on the recipient end of the distribution planning and FDA approval. (They are responsible for medical reports after the vaccine has been in use.) Their prognosis is based on second-hand information, so their accuracy is in question. Trump, with no evidence of lying outside the wishful made up claims of the Trump haters, has actually not definitively asserted anything about the availability of the vaccine. He makes best estimates based on the direct input from front line developers and testers. So, if forced to choose between believing the head of the CDC or the president in this case, I have to go hands down easy as pie with the president

Then you didn't listen very well nor read the distribution plan. I'll take the guys word heading it up over some internet partisan any day of the week. We'll see and I know you don't want this for Trump but the American people need it and it's bigger that partisanship.

You must have ducked down from my previous post. The Director of the CDC is asserting that the vaccine will not be ready this year. He does not oversee nor develop the vaccine.

So? Who is saying anything different? Trump is saying we might have 1 million to as much as 100 million doses available by as early as late October. IMHO we will be lucky of we have 20 million, every one designated for medical responders and providers and maybe the elderly.
