Looks like the Kurds are getting screwed again and will be left to battle the Turks without our support. As the article states, ISIS is almost defeated and in Kurdish territory meaning an invasion by Turkey will mean they have to stop their advances against ISIS. They still have a good standing in a way with the Syrian Government proper so there is a chance they will give it up to prevent an invasion or the possibility of fighting the Syrian/Russian/Iranian forces and the Turks at the same time, along with Jihadist groups from west of the Euphrates who are on high alert under orders from Turkey.

The announcement by Trump after Erdogan's threats also indicates a slight nod to the capabilities of the Turkish militarily. To bad for the Kurds as they have fought so long in Iraq and Syria with our help, but always seem to get used in a way and left to the meat grinder when they no longer of use.

The Kurds should probably reconcile 100% with the Syrian Government while they are still able to, or all will be lost.

So it must be safe for all the Syrian refugees to go home now.

Pentagon is not happy about this. From what I read ISIS is gaining strength there, and in other places like Somalia, which we have been bombing recently.

Hypocritical leftist doves: "What!? How dare tRUMP reduce our precious security by removing the wonderful US military from an oil-rich Muslim foreign country half-way around the world, that Obama rightly put there!!!!"
    ....watch for it - guaranteed.
If Trump cured cancer the hard-leftists would lament the fact that a million health-care workers would instantly lose their jobs, and that it would exacerbate the world's population explosion problem ("this was bad for the environment, and the economy.....HOW DARE HE DO THIS!!") - guaranteed.

Edit: yep, it's already beginning! Yep, CNN can't rejoice about this, they have to condemn Trump no matter WHAT he might do!
1945 CNN headline would probably be: "WWII ends - drat, now we have to fork out BILLIONS of our tax money in reconstruction - damn that right-winger Truman anyway!!"

If they supported Obama putting them there, they would be consistent opposing the pull-out.

Hypocrisy would be opposing pull-out from Iraq, and supporting this one, or vice versa.

If they didn't want troops there in the first place then Obama wouldn't have put them there! What part of this don't you understand?

It is clear to me, but it seems foggy to you.

They supported Obama putting them there, so they should support keeping them there, and oppose a pull out. They would be hypocritical if they supported Obama putting the troops there, and then demanding a pull out as soon as he was put of the office. Likewise, anyone opposing sending them there, and then insisting we have to stay there would be a hypocrite.

They always, always, want us to remove troops (unless a leftist put them there, THEN, then they are ok with it.....but they are opposing Trump's pull-out.)

With the billions we now save we can finally afford to build the wall.

If this is the only important thing to you, then so be it. Sounds horribly partisan. It also sounds like you would have agreed to put the troops there, and that you disagreed with the 2011 pull out. If that is the case, you are guilty of the exact thing you accuse them of.

We have 2000 troops there, so I doubt its costing billions, not to mention the fact that if we save money on one thing, we should not rush to spend it on something else.

Currently the terrorists in Syria and Somalia are indeed muslims, but we can't fix that. However, I think ignoring the fact that they are gaining strength on multiple fronts would be a fatal mistake.

That can only mean they support Trump on the pull-out.

I'm impressed - you are definitely NOT a leftists (that's great.)

Sane person: "The government just did something that saved some money, so now we can reduce taxes by that amount!"
Leftist (most leftists don't actually have to pay taxes anyway): "What the hell are you talking about - reduce taxes, what is wrong with you(!), it means we get to spend it somewhere else!!!!"

A concerted world-wide effort to condemn that underlying religion would of course help.

I read this on the internet, and the internet is never wrong: "As the war in Syria approaches its five year mark on March 15, the cost of the crisis to Syria is estimated at US$275 billion in lost growth opportunities, according to a new report released by aid agency World Vision." https://www.worldvision.org.hk/en/news/press-releases/new-report-shows-syria-war-costs-us275-billion

Trying to attack a religion with 1.5 billion adherents would almost certainly make matters worse.

What about an effort to make them feel guilty about having well over ONE HUNDRED Jihad-enabling verses in their holy book that they give to their impressionable young children?

Not sure what the "lost growth opportunities" refers to in your article, but sure does not sound like it is US taxpayer money. It probably means what it is costing Syria.

How could criticizing the Quran possibly help?

I love Syrians as much as I love Americans (probably because I'm a Modern Secular Humanist, and not a religious person), so your point is moot to me.
