What people do not mention is this:

You can be a threat to a police officer (or anyone else) whether you are armed or not. In fact police routinely designate a threatening person within 8 yards (24 feet) as a possible threat whether they are armed or not.

 

Yeah, the Washington Post article neglects to mention that. It's okay though, because his hands were "DEFINITELY UP" even though they may have actually been "FULLY DOWN!"

 

From what you say it would appear United States Policemen are people who can kill at will. Statistics show particularly enjoying the killing of black people. What a sad country the US must be where people do not even have the freedom to walk down the street without fear of murder if they meet one of these State Employed assassins.

 

More black people are killed by police in the U.S. because they commit a disproportionate number of crimes. Nothing more. But police do have greater freedom to use deadly force than untrained civilians. This is pretty much a necessity.

Bad behaviour by the police including the killing, particularly of non white people is endemic in the US. The Guardian did research on it a couple of years ago. It makes interesting reading. No of people killed at the hands of the police in 2016, 1093. You do not do so many State endorsed killings but if you included the number killed by the police you would be up with the worst of the,...and what is more if we look at who the police killed by ethnicity. % killed per million of the population.

That isn't true. Vehicle accidents kill more young American men than any other cause. Police in the United States IIRC from the last available figures kill less than 1,000 people a year of all races and ages.
