We can make better things for less by cutting costs in other ways but labor, especially if we make labor more productive by automation and stop paying our CEO's as much as several 1000 workers for making nothing at all.

You included him in the use of the plural word conservatives. But anyway, no one is forcing anyone to buy Chinese goods. Why not buy them from another country who also make the same goods. In fact, as you may know, many of these Chinese goods are made by American owned companies or sole independent trading US citizens subcontracting their manufacturing to China. Interesting that the left suddenly realizes higher taxes on corporations are passed to the consumer in the form of higher prices. If nothing else this trade war has finally forced liberals into admitting that.
Which brings up an interesting possible response by Trump. Take all taxes off corporations as a way to counter Chinese tariffs.

 

i'm not left. higher tax does pass down to consumer either tariff or direct tax. however corp never had high tax to begin with, amazon pay 0 tax last several years, same with many corp, its a loophole they constantly use to get away with it. you can't lower corp tax when their tax already low or none to begin with. most fed income are from middle class american

 

Why stop at CEOs? Why not enforce a pay cut on movie stars and sports stars? Why do they always get a pass by the left?

 

Then why not formalize it and just say corporations pay zero tax? According to you and others they dont pay any taxes anyway.

Just like a con though, first thing they want to cut is the worker, who makes a pittance for a lifetime's labor. CEO's make as much as several THOUSAND workers, and often for doing nothing more than bankrupting the company.

Automation replaces labor. That's why companies do it. I don't see how laying off the workforce increases American prosperity.

 

there is big different when corp tax are 0 or in very low % vs 25%. amazon pay 0% tax, there is no corp tax for them to pass on. but when all the goods in amazon raise by 25%, guess who pay that.

 

All government expenses and corporate expenses are paid by the small folks working for a living.

 

I would make it so the CEO's don't set their own salaries but prosper and suffer as do the companies they run. I'd do the same with entertainers and athletes though I think they do that now.
