Not us necessarily, not by a long shot. Corporations can't just raise their prices every time their costs increase and that includes costs that everybody pays, like taxes. Every time costs increase businesses must scramble to find some way to meet that increase WITHOUT raising prices, because they can rely upon their competition doing so and if they don't while the competitors do then that competitor will be in business while they will not. This is how smaller well run companies steal market share from bigger laxly run establishments, how capitalism turns obstacles into stepping stones and how Adam Smith's Invisible Hand gives us the best products at the best price.

Our enemies aren't people in China, they're hidebound conservative thought patterns right here. We need to discourage the cozy relationship of our own government with people and interests who want to use nationalism to substitute corruption and coercion for production, innovation and competition. That's never worked for anyone and it won't work for us now. Conservatives never learn. You don't get ahead by withdrawing from the world and dreaming on your past; the only way to survive is by being a leader of the planet and building your future in it.

 

The irony in this discussion is that it is not Chinese companies taking away our manufacturing, it is American companies.
So here we are about to put a $250 tax on an iPhone with $10 worth of Chinese labor in it, so we can reduce Apples sales in the US. Crazy.

Otherwise foreign goods wouldn't find a market here and Trump wouldn't think he needed tariffs to make us buy shitty stuff from his friends. Whose side is GM or Apple on? Their CUSTOMERS, of course, and that's you and me who want the best product for the lowest price. That IS what America is all about, just so long as we realize GOVERNMENT is a product/service, just like anything else.

you have no idea what you talking about, Chinese wage raise every year, its avg per GDP is $14,000/year now. a lot low tech company already move out of china. as for pollution most are come from manufacture, who do you they make those goods for. they already stop import of US trash, now we have trash crisis cause we can't recycle it. if they put strict standard on pollution, something they already started, that means price of consumer good will raise.

 

And once again you admit taxes on corporations are ultimately paid by consumers so in reality taxes in corporations are merely a conduit for taxes on private citizens.
