According to TDS patients, yes. They imagine if their favorite LW extremist were POTUS we'd be the only nation without the virus.

It makes sense...I mean we have to think realistically here we can't exactly keep the planet shut down indefinitely. That stimulus bill doesn't exactly scale based on geographic location either and around here 1200 bucks wouldn't even cover rent for a 1 bedroom apartment and food costs here are some of the highest in the nation. I get that landlords are prohibited from evicting folks right now but this whole thing is causing a domino effect that we can't just let spiral out of control. Landlord can't evict you for not paying rent but the landlords only source of income is your rent money so he has no money now either, etc.

Folks have to go back to work at some point, I know that this is a fantasy way of life for many people but the reality is that the government can't afford to just keep paying everyones bills while they sit at home. Even without paying rent and utility bills that 1200 bucks is going to run out pretty fast and then what are folks supposed to do? Is the government just going to snap it's fingers and print another 2 trillion dollars to hand out to everybody again next month? Are we going to activate FEMA and start dropping pallets of MRE's in towns when folks run out of money to buy food? People have to go to work to earn money...We have to balance between public safety and economics. People literally can't survive in a shelter in place society for the next 6 months or however long it takes waiting for this curve to flatten unless the government just keeps handing out money to everybody which is simply unsustainable.

Let's say a worst case happens and we lose 100K people, we've lost 88K in years past from the flu without shutting down the economy.

We lost 88k from flu that we had a vaccine for to mitigate it. COVID-19 also appears to take longer to show symptoms while still being contagious making the spread easier.

A lot of people don't take the vaccine and it isn't a guarantee even for those who do. My point is, a nation of 330,000,000 can lose 100K and still function.

We could lose several million and keep functioning as a nation. I don't think functioning as a nation is the point of the lock downs.

There has to be a balance, taking into consideration the deaths and societal carnage of an economic meltdown.

Yes yes yes! No one is saying send grandma out. But healthy people who are low risk should go back to work. If you get sick hydroxychloriquine and z pak it.

My county has 8 confirmed with 0 new cases in three days. It would make sense to open things back up here, except nothing that I'm aware of actually shut down... XD
