'Suicide by hanging and suffocation dramatically increased among middle-aged US citizens from 2000 through 2010, new research shows. Investigators at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in Baltimore, Maryland, found that the overall suicide rate in the United States increased by 16% from 2000 through 2010. However, suicide by hanging and suffocation more than doubled during the study interval in individuals aged 45 to 59 years.' How is this about gun control? Well gun control advocates often lump suicides in with murders to inflate the numbers. When caught at this, they fall back to ' it would reduce the number of suicides'...Experience tells me , no, it wouldn't because they would just find another way. 1) a background check before buying rope or cord 2) any rope longer than 10 feet is an "assault rope" and is hereby banned for ordinary citizens living in blue cities 3) before one can buy rope, he must demonstrate he can tie at least 15 different knots 4) plastic bags cannot be purchased without displaying a license to do so
Of course. Look at Australia's suicide rate. It's about 1 per 100k lower than ours now I think and has been going upwards for some time now. The countries with the most suicide have little to no civilian ownership of firearms.
I have been saying this for years, My own observations have always been that Hanging tops the suicide hit parade, Why ? Because it is the easiest method and rope is always easy for anyone to get. People even manage to hang themselves in Prison. Suicide prevention or even Suicide reduction by means of Gun control is ludicrous.
