Finland - 19.000 with only Army. 3000 first lineup then 16.000 proffesional. A Militia. Iceland - 3000 with not the Air Force. 2000 in Army and 1000 in Navy. Sweden - 17.700 with Coast Artillery with 600 man in this proffesional sum. Spain - 110.000 however is down size with proffesional.
Who cares? For one, the only kind of chains of command that you could have is either NATO or the EU. NATO, already exists. No need to discuss that. The EU? Article 42. Only enacted once, and there is no agreement in how or when it would be enacted and what the responsibilities of each nation are. If for some reason a USSR II started to march across Europe, the EU would still be arguing and discussing things as they reached the English Chanel and North Sea. Thank goodness there is NATO, because the EU can not even keep it's own member states in the organization. Let alone keep other nations out.
NATO aren't excellent ? Well. Right. And the EU are more good for Sweden and Finland for example a Union with peaceful members. Nobody attack anybody in the Union.
But I could say U.K. leave with rights the Union. They have old imperium and interest outside EU. Maybe USA and U.K. alliance if both two leaving NATO.
Yea, right. Just do not expect any help if somebody decides to attack Finland again. Like France, Germany, the US and UK. Many countries helped Finalnd in the Winter War, just to oppose the USSR if nothing else. That can not be guaranteed in the modern era. And yea, Sweden. The country so awesome my ancestors moved to the US to get away from there.
