I can make the reverse argument and we can then go on forever.

Your claim about freedom in Ukraine is false. Ukraine liberated itself in 2014 and has become a steadily freer society ever since.
I lived for many years in Africa. I'm aware of the problems. The difference between Ukraine and most of Africa is that in Ukraine the people are willing to fight for their freedom.

Nah. Pre 2014, Ukraine was just as free under a pro Russian governmen as it was after. If not more so

"When President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Servant of the People party swept into power in 2019, the president’s office famously said it “doesn’t need journalists.”

Instead, Andriy Bohdan, the head of the president’s office at the time, said that Zelensky’s team could communicate “directly” with the people.

Two and a half years later, Zelensky’s administration seems to have realized it does in fact need the media if it wants to win the next elections in 2024. But the media’s been criticizing the government.

Instead of improving its dialogue with the press, Zelensky’s government decided to take a more direct route: amplify supporters and pressure critics into silence.

“We thought that the president’s media background would predispose them to solve questions of information and freedom of speech like media types who understand these subjects well,” said Sergiy Tomilenko, head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. “But unfortunately we see otherwise.”

The past four months have seen a surge of attempts to control the media. This included pressure on publication owners, demands to political talk shows, attempts to cancel the screening of a documentary film and threats of criminal prosecution against media outlets and journalists.

A bill threatening media independence has also been registered during Zelensky’s tenure and awaits review by parliament. The government wants to expand funding for tame state media to amplify its message.

“We’re seeing the displeasure of the government towards the media that isn’t under direct control,” said Tomilenko. “We’re seeing a trend of government attacks on the rights of journalists… (messages) that journalists are controlled by bad people and oligarchs… This rhetoric is intensifying and can be tied with the elections that are drawing closer.”"

Natalia Ligacheva, head of the watchdog NGO Detector Media, agrees.

Most experts rate U.S nuclear weapons as far more reliable.

IDK about him. I tried to do some digging to see what he's about. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Which is strange for someone thats described as being so prolific.

I read some of the link you posted. It's mostly opinion.

But we arnt faring that much better

Minuteman III Missiles Are Too Old to Upgrade Anymore, STRATCOM Chief Says
    https://www.military.com/daily-news...-old-upgrade-anymore-stratcom-chief-says.html

I did some digging. America has more silos. But they are single use. Russia has fewer silos but they are multiple use. The only advantage of the minuteman missiles is its accuracy. But when concerning a 750kt warhead, being off target by 200 meters won't matter much. It's counterpart is just as fast. Can carry just as many MRVs. But their payload is a little less than twice(750kt compared to 400kt) than that of the minuteman.

Furthermore, they have automated system called the "Dead Hand".

Dead Hand is an automatic nuclear weapons-control system. An example of fail-deadly and mutual assured destruction deterrence, it can automatically initiate the launch of the Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) by sending a pre-entered highest-authority order from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Strategic Missile Force Management to command posts and individual silos if a nuclear strike is detected by seismic, light, radioactivity, and pressure sensors even with the commanding elements fully destroyed.

But I think the biggest advantage that Russia has is that most of their ICBM's are mobile

    upload_2022-11-25_23-39-47.png

Which means that it's virtually impossible to target them. They are mobile. They can be put on trucks. In shipping containers. On a freight train. And even on a cargo ships.

Let's not forget that while US is has not been developing new ICBMS, Russia has. It conducted a successful test of the SATAN 2 as well as the imminent test of Poseidon

US observed Russian navy preparing for possible test of nuclear-powered torpedo

Still a work in progress, but headed in the right direction.

    Ukraine Conflict Updates
Russian sources reported that unidentified actors (likely Ukrainian partisans) conducted an improvised explosive device (IED) attack near the Mariupol City Administration building on the evening of November 24. The Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) Territorial Defense headquarters reported that the explosion was caused by a car bomb and killed one resident and noted that DNR law enforcement is carrying out escalated “operational-search and investigative measures.”[105] Russian forces overall are continuing escalated law enforcement operations throughout occupied areas of Ukraine on November 24 and 25 in response to partisan threats and fear of pro-Ukrainian sentiment.[106]

You really really do not know much..

Most of U.S. nuclear weapons are aboard the Ohio class submarines. D-5 SLBNs. They carry larger warheads and more accurate ones than our old Minuteman ICBMs. And of course the submarine based missiles are inherently "mobile".

And if you had ever done any research you would know that the so called "Dead Hand" (actual name "Perimeter") has NEVER been fully automated.

And there is nothing new about the so called "Satan II" ICBM. It is simply an updated SS-18 ICBM from the 1970s. Early 1970s.

Come back when your not prattling crap from the 1970s.

Today, the U.S. ICBM force consists of 400 combat-capable Minuteman III missiles that are safe, secure and effective.

Trident II missiles are carried by 14 US Ohio, with 24 missiles on each Ohio class. (the number of missiles on Ohio-class submarines will be reduced to 20 each starting in 2023, in compliance with the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty).

    20*14=280

    400>280

You really really do not know much..

Russia’s new RS-28 Sarmat ICBM can reach orbit and strike any place on earth
Its large payload of about 10 tonnes would allow for up to 10 heavy warheads or 15 lighter ones or up to 24 hypersonic glide vehicles Yu-71/Yu-74 or a combination of warheads and massive amounts of countermeasures designed to defeat anti-missile systems.

It is suspected to have a Fractional Orbital Bombardment (FOBS) capability. The Fractional Orbital Bombardment System objective was to bypass the weapon detection systems in the United States. Nuclear warheads are briefly placed into the Earth’s orbit. After orbiting for a short period of time, the bombs would deploy and fall to their targets from space. The system shares many similarities with the concept of kinetic bombardment systems, with the exception of the use of a nuclear warhead as opposed to an inert projectile. This weapon system also had no range limit and the orbital flight path would not reveal the target location. The RS-28 could fly a trajectory over the South Pole, completely bypassing any current U.S. missile defense system.

RS-28 has a short boost phase which makes it tougher to counter or track.

The RS-28 will replace the SS-18 by around 2023 or 2025. In early 2017, prototype missiles had been reportedly built and testing has started in 2018.

According to various sources, RS-28's launch sites are to be equipped with the "Mozyr" active protection system, designed to negate a potential adversary's first strike advantage by discharging a cloud of metal arrows or balls kinetically destroying incoming bombs, cruise missiles and ICBM warheads at altitudes of up to 6km

You still don't know jack if you're touting the mythical"hypersonic glide vehicles" which currently are mere hypotheticals.

Why are you constantly prattling about the great and awesome Russian nuclear weapons?

You don't even know that the Soviets (Russians) have had a FOBS system since the 1960s!!!

That doesn't mean anything. How I wish we had at least an intelligent opponent to argue with here.

The Russian program has encountered problems because so many carpenters have been conscripted for the war in Ukraine. Can't build Russia's wooden missiles without carpenters.

    Ukraine Conflict Updates
. . . . Ukrainian partisans may have conducted attacks on Russian forces in Zaporizhia Oblast on November 30. Nikopol military administration head Evheniy Yevtushenko posted a video on November 30 purporting to show Ukrainian partisans near Enerhodar, Zaporizhia Oblast.[76] Yevtushenko claimed that Ukrainian partisans near Ivanivka, Blahovishchenkka, and Enerhodar in Russian-occupied Zaporizhia Oblast killed up to a platoon of Russian military personnel.[77] Russian sources did not report on any partisan activity in Zaporizhia Oblast on November 30. . . .

    Ukraine Conflict Updates
Ukrainian sources reported that Ukrainian partisan activities are continuing to threaten Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in occupied Luhansk Oblast. Ukrainian Luhansk Oblast Head, Serhiy Haidai, stated that Ukrainian partisans set fire to automated railway control equipment near the Luhansk Power Station in Schastia, about 15km north of Luhansk City.[56] Haidai noted that this attack will likely significantly complicate Russian efforts to transport equipment to the frontline by rail.[57] Such partisan actions in the rear of Luhansk Oblast may pose continued logistical challenges to Russian forces as they try to fortify the current frontline in western Luhansk Oblast as Ukrainian troops continue limited counteroffensive operations.

    Ukraine Conflict Updates
Russian forces likely publicly executed residents in occupied Luhansk Oblast under accusations of partisan activity. Ukrainian journalist Sergii Sternenko posted images on December 4 showing five residents in Luhansk Oblast who Sternenko reported that Russian forces had publicly hanged them on accusations of partisan activity.[73] Russian forces may have executed the residents in this manner in an attempt to prevent further partisan activity in Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine. ISW has previously assessed that effective Ukrainian partisan activity is forcing Russian forces to divert resources away from frontline operations to help secure rear areas.[74]
