So, they will deport Americans too. I guess the Jan-6 folks were double lucky their leader bailed them out, before getting shipped to a 3rd world country.

I knew things were going to get bad, but never thought something like this could happen in US.

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele made an offer to Secretary of State Marco Rubio to accept deported migrants from any country and house American citizens convicted of crimes in exchange for a fee paid by the United States.

El Salvador offers to house ‘American criminals,’ deportees: Rubio

El Salvador has offered to house criminals who are American citizens and deportees of other nationalities, according to the Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Rubio said late Monday that Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele’s offer is “the most unprecedented and extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world.”

The comments came after he met with the country’s leadership.

This comment from Rubio gives me pause.

“No country’s ever made an offer of friendship such as this.”

Friendship? Friendship. Seriously. Sounds like lil’ Marco is all in on this highly unconstitutional act.

No matter how detestable, how heinous their crimes, they belong in American prisons.

I thought Marco was a good pick, but is seems he'll do anything to appease his boss in the WH.

How on earth can depriving US Citizens of their rights be an act of friendship........?

He offered it, but US citizens are probably not going to be sent to El Salvador. Not legal to deport an American citizen, and the way their jail system and human rights would probably be unconstitutional even if said citizen was a high offender. Now if an American did something to lose their rights as a US citizen, that would be an exception but hey would no longer be a US citizen so their status would be moot.

“Yes, Secretary Rubio, we’d love to torture your citizens for you. Just leave them here, no need to ever check on them again.”

In before people claim he didn't mean US Citizens:

"“He has offered to house in his jails dangerous American criminals in custody in our country, including those of U.S. citizenship and legal residents,” Rubio said Monday, according to the State Department readout. “No country’s ever made an offer of friendship such as this.”"

On the other hand the El Salvador offer might turn out to be the place where inmates are free to practice their religious beliefs which might actually mean more to a high percentage of them than whether or not they are prisoners in America or not?

But if the inmates make prisons here a place where too many guards or other inmates get killed........ a decision must be made.

Some USA inmates might just volunteer to go to El Salvador if they are told about a Spiritual Awakening happening in the prisons there?

No. They know how to deal with misbehaving prisoners in US. It's an inane idea which will never pass the courts. That guy doesn't have any idea what he is doing.

I betcha a lot of aspiring missionaries will be making plans to go to El Salvador to work and preach in the prisons there. "All publicity is good publicity."

This is unconstitutional. SCOTUS has ruled that citizens, no matter the crime, cannot be expatriated or exiled from the country.

Trump likely doesn’t know this, but Rubio is smart, and definitely knows this. I wonder if lil’ Marco is a Trump bot or playing along so there’s an adult in the room.

Or Rubio was thinking of this as an option for illegal alien criminals. Not for USA criminals.

Or perhaps the thought of deeply religious USA prisoners wanting to volunteer to go to El Salvador to preach may have been on his mind. I am only guessing????

They could have gone there any tine they wanted, since they have always had plenty of prisons there and in every other country? Why follow US Citizens there when they can preach to them right here in US?
