Did anyone attend or watch it on the box? What were your impressions? I went to the Golden Jubilee celebrations with my mum, but I was not in London this time. But from what I saw on the broadcasts, it went very well.

I saw some of it on the tv. The 1,000 boat flotilla on the river was awesome- as was the fly-past of WW2 aircraft. Republic or Royalist, no-one could have failed to be impressed by these spectacles- and they take people's minds of the extremely crap government that the UK is currently saddled with. Watch out for your Haig dude. He was an architect of the mess which is now Libya and he wants to repeat it in Syria. Next he'll be signing you up for a war with Iran.

The flotilla was interminable. Five hours of people paddling upriver on a falling tide, with BBC (in particular) reporters strategically placed every hundred yards or so, jumping up and down telling us how exciting it all was! The concert was passable with a lot of ancient stars I thought I'd outlived, The local street party went well. This morning's Thanksgiving service wandered into the afternoon, and the Queen is giving a national thank-you as I type. Phil cried off yesterday afternoon and dived into hospital with a sudden bladder infection to escape. Rolf Harris will be on in half an hour to paint the Diamond Jubilee! Will it never end? I realise it's historic, but I'm sneakily glad I won't be around for the next one. The Olympic flame will be passing my house next week. I'll be waiting with a bucket of water ready! Humbug!

I'm sure it was a success, and it is quite a milestone. But I coundn't care less. My ancestors left England centuries agao because monarchy sucks. I like my life of freedom and liberty and the ability to elect my government, or unelect them as I see fit when we get a dud like Obama. Monarchy, especially bad monarchy is for life. Not worth the risk.

Means nothing to me. I'm not, and never have been, a Royalist and this ridiculously costly display in a time of real austerity is sickening.

England is truly a backwards country.

While they are in severe financial crisis with the government scrambling to find places to make cuts, they still have to budget for this nonsense?

So far , BBC + other TV channels have suceeded to avoid politicians jumping on the band wagon .
Its been largely just bout the Public and the the Monarch. I was glad to see that the Commonwealth was duly represented. Yesterdays concert was attended by approx 750 thousand and todays crows in Pall Mall leading to Buckingham Palace was estimated 1.5 million.

I've not always been a monarchist , but now I'd rather have a monarch like Her Majesty than scoundrels like Tony Blair + co., as presidential head of state.

Lol! I worked hard at missing it all.....and I'm glad I did if it was that bad. I actually usually quite appreciate the way the UK does one off pomp and ceremony, even as I curse under my breath at the cost..but four sodding days of it is overkill......by three and a half days, imo.

Guess what , "freedom + Liberty " wasnt invented nore confined/exclusive to Americans and , wait for it , WE can also elect and unelectect our government.

Go learn and you'll discovery that our Monarchy is constitutional , (also head of the Commonwealth- former Empire a voluntary community of nations ) plus another state which was'nt ever part of the British empire )

, Our elected Parliament can depose /force a monarch to abdicate , (Edward VIII) Hell we've even known to behead a KIng . ( Charles I) who got too big headed for is own good.

Those taking part seem to have enjoyed it and undaunted by the weather. Looks like you missed the best - last nights concert and todays 1.5 million crowd paying tribute to Her Majesty Trafalgar Square - Pall Mall to front of the Palace.

To you , yours , to us , ours. btw I doubt whether its costing Scots a penny. (wink)

The government only exists under the privilege of the crown. I have watched UK political crap on C-Span and watch as they have to kiss the crown's ass before every session. Your joke of a democracy makes our joke of a democracy look genuine.

Do Brits actually like the Queen? She just has a lifelong appointment to be rich and live a life of luxury, and the public pays for this.

    Quite literally a Welfare Queen

Can you name any ex president who havent lived a life of luxury which wasnt paid for by the american tax-payers ?

American presidents are voted for. And as much as I think our system is rigged and full of elitism, it is still 10xs better than people in 2012 still kneeling to a crown. I also find your logical fallacy dodge quite infantile.

LOL - no need for anyone to wash her feet - unlike the Pope - hehehe - I understand QE ll
at the ripe old age of 86 is physically fit enough to do it herself + guess what , she's still fit enough to go horse riding without a hard hat, and the only monarch qualified to change spark plugs on a diesel truck.

You best pray when + if you should live long enough to be 86 years old you can be as fit as she is.

    Hahahaha

That's a matter of opinion . America's founding fathers made that choice a few centuries ago, the past cannot be undone. On the other many more Commonwwealth i.e. Canada/Australia/ New Zealand etc citizens would today rather have Her Majesty as head of state than some political scoundrel as head of state.

btw - Do you have any idea how much it costs US taxpayers to maintain ex-presidents and their wives , ?

They basically get security, pension, healthcare, and a very modest staff. It's nothing like what the monarchy gets.

Wow. So you went from I don't know what I'm talking about, to admitting the crown is still in charge and defending it. Yes, I agree. For whatever joke the cowards that make up the British citizenry are, they pail in comparison to the citizens of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, still serving as subjects from 1000s of miles away in 2012. And last I checked, your fake government officials still collect tax payers' money for their fake services.
