Why I never necessarily agreed with Obama getting the NPP (except to piss you people off), Jimmy Carter FULLY deserved his prize for facilitating his effort at ACTUAL ME peace in 1978.... That it came 25 years later isn't his fault...

    SNIP
The Nobel Committee had wanted to give Carter the prize that year for his efforts, along with Anwar Sadat and Menachim Begin, but was prevented from doing so by a technicality—he had not been nominated by the official deadline.

I agree with you on that. He didn't deserve MotY in '76 for simply beating Ford, who would have lost to anyone. Similarly to how Biden & Harris didn't deserve it last year for beating Trump who actually beat himself by not keeping his trap shut.

They have to give these awards to somebody.... Who would you have given it to in 2020? I'm guessing not Fauci or George Floyd......

Frankly, between Joe and Kamala, Kamala probably deserved it more for breaking a couple of glass ceilings...

Xi Jinping probably for not only covering up the virus but then hording PPE so that the rest of the world would be short.
Trump maybe for accellerating the vaccine
"The Protestor" in the way they give it to stupid groups of people.

Yes, Fauci was wrong on so many things and didn't really do anything that helped as far as I saw. Floyd didn't do anything other than become the match that lit the fires but he would have been a better choice than Biden/Harris.

Well, all I can say is those 3 options make Biden/Harris even a more obvious choice...

So you think that they had a bigger impact on the world? How so?

"For changing the American story, for showing that the forces of empathy are greater than the furies of division, for sharing a vision of healing in a grieving world, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are TIME's 2020 Person of the Year," TIME editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal wrote.

    Works for me

More importantly than challenging something else from 2020 that won't be changed, who do you have THIS year, so far??

I cannot see any way it won't be Zelensky.... He's gotta be off the board in Vegas....

EDIT - Here's some irony for ya... here's an article from 2/23/22 speculating on the odds for this year, with no Zelensky... Note that date??

I think you are right. It would have to be Zelensky. Hopefully not posthumous.

I totally disagree with their reason for Biden/Harris though. I didn't see any of that from Biden's basement during the campaign. Doen't bother me though. It's a rag and I've known that for a very long time.

I think the announcement for 2022 is tomorrow...

Here's the "short list" of 10

Xi Jinping - You could put the president of China on the short list every year
The U.S. Supreme Court - Dysfunctional entities always welcome
Elon Musk - See The U.S. Supreme Court - not going to go back to back
Liz Cheney - If this was ranked choice, she'd finish about 5th
Volodymyr Zelensky - If he doesn't win, this thing is not worth a thing
MacKenzie Scott - I'm sorry, what??? Placeholder
Protesters in Iran - Good for them, but they haven't really won much yet... maybe next year
Ron DeSantis - Current placeholder. Maybe 2024
Gun safety advocates - Good year but not until we get a modified 1994 ban back in place
    Janet Yellen - Another placeholder.

My top 3 are Zelensky (Win, Place, and Show), Xi, and Iran...

    Good ideas.

FairTax is a flat out disaster, though, regardless of how well those below the poverty line are handled. The problem comes in that the wealthy get their tax load reduced substantially, with middle income workers and families carrying the extra load. Over all, it is a MAJOR shifting of tax load toward the American middle class.

Also, taxation is a proven tool for encouraging and discouraging behavior without having to use the force of law or finding other means of support for valued contributions.

Zelensky was the ONLY choice, from that list of 10...

I'd offer my congratulations, but as his country is still partially occupied by the Slavic horde, it probably won't get through...
