Seems like a good idea to me. Why would you want to stop it?

    Because it's anti-equality.

“Affirmative action is intended to promote the opportunities of defined minority groups within a society to give them equal access to that of the majority population.”

    Why doesn’t it work?
Not work for women? Not work for Afro Americans? Not work for handicapped? Not work for Latinos?

You got tokens of work but, no primary accomplishment
evidenced by education and economic situations today compared to
    5 decades ago!

What is it about merit that bothers you so much? Is it not he most efficient path to success?

Shouldn’t minorities and otherwise disadvantaged have a chance to demonstrate their merit too?

In the case of college, would not such demonstration of merit be the college entrance exam? As opposed to someone's racial heritage?

    @Sallyally DEAR :blowkiss:

Imagine you cultivate economically disadvantaged kids
by programs aimed at parents of small children and
    children too.
Cultivate those children to where they can get into
college without affirmative action nor a sports scholarship .

Affirmative Action these last 5 decades has been a failure.
It creates major losers such as the Asian kids who are so
numerous they run up against diversity quotas!
Like the Jew quotas of 100 years ago.

It certainly doesn't work for Blacks. Blacks get admitted to AA and fail to do well. The non-AA students see this and this reinforces their impression that AA students are just not that smart. The AA students attribute their failure to racism and thus racial tensions are increased.

    I call that "not working."

They have to compete with people such as Mrs Huffman who have plenty of money and the old boys network.

That’s a good idea. Why didn’t someone think of it before?

Don’t know what you can do with the overflow of Asian kids.

Is AA only about schools and colleges? Isn’t it about non discrimination with employment too?

“A lot of the polling on affirmative action is unsurprising. White Americans are consistently less likely than non-white Americans to support policies that attempt to address discrimination. But the polling is often flawed because it uses biased language in questions. One example (also in the GSS) asked Americans whether they believe blacks should overcome prejudice without “special favors”.

Affirmative action is not a “special favor”. It is a measure aimed at bridging the gap between the best universities in the country that remain largely comprised of whites and the rest of the country that increasingly isn’t.”

    Really!

Why not ask an Asian kid if one is on Board.

How about we address applicants on quality alone?

Community Programs as outlined haven't worked because
grants are given to political Black entities and not
groups who understand what the children need to mainstream.
Even your :worship: Michelle didn't understand her kids needed
quality meat protein. Not just more rabbit food.

Western kids eat too much protein.

Why do you think applicants aren’t judged on quality?

I believe you are correct. My point concerns schools and colleges.

But it doesn't "bridge the gap." Black students most often do poorly compared to whites. This reinforces racial stereotypes and increases resentment among blacks.

    AA is a failure.

idk. I live in Mississippi and black people have good jobs all over the place now. That wasn't so when I was a kid. Something has worked. I don't know if it was affirmative action or not. If it was affirmative action that worked it should be phased out pretty quickly as nothing is needed now -- unless it were to be expanded to good, high paying jobs for criminals -- which makes zero sense.

South Africa has over a hundred Black Empowerment laws meant to help empower the black majority. These Affirmative action programs on steroids caused more inequality than there were before they were implemented, due to corruption & nepotism and hugely contributed to the collapse of all State Owned Enterprises, as well as water and sanitation due to the employment of people based on race not skill

Affirmative action is sanctioned racism... has any racism ever produced anything good?

You have to choose a rare exception to demonstrate your point?

No. Not in a million years is there ANY system more fair and equitable than exams. Either on departing high school, or entry to colleges.

Could be the difference between Civil Rights laws
    and Affirmative Action.
