Oh it's not in the least unhappy, it's simply being conducted in a place which no longer suits our needs and interests. Interestingly, we're only moving about 15 minutes away .. but that's enough to put us into a much more mixed socio-economic demographic. Newer migrants, working class folk, and well-heeled professionals and business owners. Nice variety. Upshot, we get to keep our goodest pals and social contacts, but don't have to live amongst the intolerants :)

FTR, I do know the odd Progressive who is tolerant and broad minded - like yourself! - and have one or two in my extended family .. but they are such rare beasts. The vast majority cannot deal with conservatives, cannot deal with disagreement, cannot deal with POC other than to try way too hard - which is super racist - yet are unable to mix socially with POC (check how many of your Proggy friends mix socially with accented brown migrants. My guess is nil), cannot deal with religion, cannot deal with 'old fashioned values', and a whole host of things they shouldn't be perturbed by if they are 'tolerant and broad-minded'.

    Basically yes.....
because everything that is done through a bureaucracy is done in a terribly unwise and inefficient manner.

If a charitable group got together and decided to create some jobs in an underpriviledged neighbourhood though..... that would be up to them......

I was in favor of Affirmative Action for a long time, but one is not exposed to the issues with it until and unless one researches it, and all the information you need to change your opinion against it is to do some internet research. On balance, it is much more harmful than good.

Which aspect do you think is the faulty one? It is a very well meaning effort so it can’t be all bad.

It has done a lot more good for people who have been denied opportunities for hundreds of years. Got to tell all those doctors and all those lawyers and all those accountants etc. who can now make good money because they are allowed to participate in these professions and go to the best colleges
Let me guess....you’re a white male

Actually, I'm black and a female transgender cross-dressing transvestite (as in pants, preferably Levi's) with both mommy and daddy issues (a few doggy and birdy issues too), but I do use the ladies room when I want.

    Can we be besties?

Of course it should be ended - it never should have existed to begin with.

It is government sponsored/mandated discrimination. It is blatantly unconstitutional.

And assuming you know the race and sex of anonymous people on the internet, is what? What do we call that? Will you start assuming weight and height next? Maybe age?...

Well meaning doesn't cut it, unfortunately. If it did, hugging puppies while ignoring a burning house would be a good idea. There's a time and place for 'well meaning'. Applying it outside of that time and place - thoughtlessly - is almost always a bad idea.

The great attraction to well meaning is that it self-congratulates, and provides fairly instant validation of 'helping'.

It's unconstitutional. It's government sponsored discrimination.

How can there be any good in that??

    It's disgusting.

When it's no longer the right time/place. Then it becomes the very thing it was designed to eliminate.

If discrimination persists, is it still the wrong time?

What discrimination? Institutional discrimination has been outlawed for years.
