Because Trump started a bullcrap of trade war with China AND the EU ... this wedge is great for us in the EU!
Of course is China not really trustful, but the US isn't credible too after 4 years of Trump. But in comparison to Trumps USA (maybe it will improve with Biden now), is China 4 times more trustful as partner!

And if Trumps USA hoped for a united front against China, then why the hack did he kick in the butt of the EU the same way as in Chinas butt, eh?

    Get realities!

Is Huawei really this evil? I have doubts ... and looking on what the big ally and so called freind USA does with us in this matter with the NSA and so on ... well! A choice between devil and satan at least!

And I get it that you are out ... I did more as get this, I celebrate it that yu are finally out and I am very happy about this. Also I prefered a "No Deal" leave normally, but ok, it is with deal and i can live with that too.
It is you who becomes not tired to shout on the EU as the evil and the most stupid one. YOU HAVE TO GET IT that you are out and that the EU is not your business further. Take care of what is going on in your island and what you are doing, not what the EU is doing ... not your issue!
What the hack is of your interest, which deal wtih whom the EU does please? You are out of the EU,not your issue!

I don't care anymore about what is going on in the UK ... but I can smile and will point out further the stupidity of Brexit clwons like the lacking knowledge of your "Express" Newspaper which obviously didn't know that Norway isn't part of the EU!
And for sure I will puke fire and sulfer when you Brexit troll will further try to make the EU to be the scapegoats for your own failures and problems further.
Should ... I emphasize "should" ... your unemployment figures rise because of Brexit, your economy has problems, prices rise or whatever problems arise ... and you or any other pro-Brexit guy makes the EU for that responsible, then you will have fun with me here in the forum. You wanted Brexit, so live with all the consequences, because since 01.01.2021 you have been responsible for everything for yourself and nobody else, including the EU!

    You got this?

And yes, Norway and also Switzerland have a dfferent deal as you have, because there it were negotiations without a Cherry Picking try as the UK did.

    Biden... @Mandelus

Biden was pissed at the EU.

The guy who's set to run the country for the next 4 years.

    Don't you know anything?

Just for wanting to be closer to Beijing than to Washington proves Brexiteers right.

'The EU is an undemocratic bloc that'll sell out its values of Human Rights for a quick buck.'

But in reality, reality talking; The EU is a loose canon and based on this deal, can't be trusted; wet behind the ears, a child playing with civilisations much older than itself, doing damage in its own ego driven madness, like that wedge China is celebrating, that Joe Biden quite rightly admits, now makes the task of being tough on China, more difficult now.

I believe deal #56 was the UK deal and deal #57 was the China deal (based on the thread title's count for EU trade deals @ 55 deals when posting).
So, in a thread talking about EU trade deals, this is apt.

Be only aware to blame the EU for your future problems to be guilty ... that the last I will tell you here. bye!

The EU giving strength to Communist China is my business you brain washed EU slave puppet.

Now thanks to the EU, America will have a harder time standing up to China.
The same China who went back on UK's deal with China about Hong Kong and cracked down on their freedom, making it UK's business.

The EU should be stopped from doing what it likes as it acts like a liability, scoring own goals, and making the side weaker.

London can undercut the EU and throw out this deal, while the EU trades with itself and China.
Why would anyone pick Frankfurt or Dublin over London if London became more lucrative?
I already see the EU trying to crack down on tax havens in the EU, can't do that to London, we're out.
    Just think
    'Singapore on the Thames'.

England has always wished it could rule Europe. The last few decades it has contented itself with just jerking it around.

Europe have always been Germany's wet dream for conquest.

England tends to look everywhere but Europe.

    @David Landbrecht

Look at Gibraltar and Malta; it leads into the Med' which leads into the Suez.
That's about as much of the rest of Europe as we want.

Absolutely right. Unfortunately, there are people you can not and should not confront with simple facts, it destroys their fantasy narrative and cognitive dissonance kicks in big time. Some people even create memes to "illustrate" their point. In middle school they'd probably say "well done."

You mean WWII in Europe wasn't to liberate it from German hands?
You mean Germany aren't in a stronger a position in the EU thanks to Brexit and ready to act on it?

Why would UK want Europe anyway? In this part of the world, we only care about having access to the Mediterranean, and we have that thanks to Gibraltar and once, Malta.

You do know WWII in Europe was Germany's obsession with Europe.
What backwards alt. history are you seeing that alludes to UK wanting Europe of all places? Is Europe in the Caribbean? No.
Is Europe a trading post at the door of China?
    No.

    What is Europe?
Europe, is a diminishing has been and in 10 years, not 1 of the G7 will be European (including UK).
The sphere of influence is shifting away from Europe, because, nobody wants Europe and Europe has little to offer.

    Back on topic.

It seems MEPs in the EU are ready to block this EU/China deal that Germany rushed in, proving I guess that somebody has morals in that bloc.

anther person reiterating how delusional the EU are being in their optimism with China and that if the EU went ahead with this deal, the EU forfeit the right to be taken seriously on the world stage again.

The EU Parliament won't ratify it because they're not that stupid.
No, not every deal is great.
This EU deal with China is signing a deal with the Chinese Communist Party.
Human Rights and Democracy concerns will save the EU from making this deal.
The only upside to this EU China deal is seeing who rips off who, none of my business, but your blind assertion that money means more than values is yet more proof to how tone deaf EU leaders are.

Have you not even heard of China and what they're up to?

The Biden transition team has indicated that the new US administration will end unilateralism and seek a united front with the EU, Japan, and other allies in its trade fight with China. These opportunities got lost with the agreement on December 30, 2020.

I've just started the process of applying for an Irish passport so I can keep my EU citizenship.
This means I can live in my house in France without having to ask permission. I will also be able to work in any EU country and have unhindered travel between them. I will also be eligible for free healthcare in a reciprocal agreement.
I have an Irish grandmother so I can keep these important privileges.
Many of the retired people who sold up and moved to British enclaves in places like Spain and then voted for Brexit will not be lucky enough to be in the same position. Their houses will be virtually worthless and if they have to return to the UK because they are refused residency or for medical care they will be a burden on the taxpayer.

Jesus, I feel left out that I can trace my family back to the UK for centuries.
One side Anglo Saxon, one side Anglicised Viking; both sides easily traced back to the 1800s or older.

I'm waiting for EU migrants to get deported back to the EU tbh, when are we going to start seeing this?

There is no possible way I can find any way to become any citizen but British, unless my American family somehow enables me American documented status, but, nope, no hidden relative for me to enable me the chance to get back in the EU...

And why would I want to?

Going to a British enclave in Spain is like going to an Essex (all be it with better weather) with a Socialist government mired in a Fascist past.
You could want that, but stop pretending you're not little England seeking out to go where the Brits and the warm beer are.

    Good luck with that @Montegriffo

One double edge to this is my native London, home of people black white and brown 1st generation new comer or older, and people moan about how London's not British.
So, f' off to Spain then where all the Whites went, go to Australia too if you don't think UK is safe because of White flight.

Don't hate on London for being Global and say you're not Little Englanders just to move to some British enclave in the sun to be with White British again.

My ancestry can be traced back to the UK for centuries too. My grandmother was from Northern Ireland which is still a part of the UK. Citizens from NI are entitled to a passport from the Republic of Ireland as I'm sure you know.
As you may have read in my post I have no intention of moving to Spain. I already have a house in France and I much prefer the weather there. My point about the little Englanders in Spain was that they may well have shot themselves in the foot by voting for Brexit, which a vast majority of them did.
I have already outlined some of the reasons for wanting to remain an EU citizen, did you even read my post?
I have said nothing about London so don't try to put words in my mouth.
In future, before you go off on an unhinged rant, try to make sure you understand the point I was making.
Jeez, if you are representative of Brexit voters it is no wonder they came to such a momentously stupid decision when they voted against their own interests back in 2016.
Still, you do demonstrate to our American friends the quality of debate we have had to endure.

I voted Remain, where I voted Remain in London voted Remain, London as a region voted Remain, I like the SNP was dragged out of the EU against my will by a bunch of Little Englanders in places in England outside of London.
I unlike the SNP, got over it.
Why? Because the EU is like the USSR and I saw that truth after the Brexit vote; or the EU is tone deaf or is incompetent and rude and defiant to the Americans who liberated them and saved them from themselves.

Northern Ireland is still too exotic for my blood, and now it gives you Irish citizenship, 'la-di-da'
My point is, I've no hidden skeletons in my closest to enable me to claim any citizenship but British.

What's so attractive about the EU unless you own a house out there?

Why not buy property in America?

You're as much American as you are EU right now, (barring your grand parent and exotic blood).

There are many things attractive about the EU but I am talking about EU citizenship not the EU itself.
I've already outlined why citizenship is a great privilege. Please reread what I have written as I don't feel like repeating it on demand to someone who replied with such rudeness.
I don't have the money to buy a home in the US and have no right to reside there. I also don't like the 2nd amendment or the toxic politics which were once again demonstrated last week.
I am extremely cautious about their slack regulations with respect to food production and quality. I don't want an allowed amount of rat **** in my orange juice I prefer EU regulations which strive for zero levels of contamination. I think bleaching chickens rather than eliminating salmonella from flocks and growth hormones and routine use of anti-biotics in herds is a really bad idea.
I feel much closer to French culture, we have been historically entwined with France for nearly a thousand years and much of our language is derived from French as a result.
I was born a European and have visited most of western Europe during my life.
I am far more European than American.

So you're turning a blind eye to the Bill of Rights that has origins in our Magna Carta and think the UK should ban the burqa because to recognise a minority is wrong?
You ever wonder why it's a special relationship?.

    As UK, we have more in common with the US than regimes in Europe;
our freedom of speech and rights for minorities set us apart from France, but ironically, make us kin with the US, who I might add, was founded from its British colonies that adopted British rights and laws.

They even speak English in America, how can you say they're not like us, when we share values held in the Magna Carta/Bill of Rights?

There you go putting words in my mouth again.
I have not said I want to ban the burka and that is not EU policy. It is in fact an example of how a country can keep sovereignty over their own laws and still remain a part of the EU. I certainly don't think it is a good idea but cherry picking the odd French law and using it to compare France with a country whose current president wanted to ban Muslim travel and got a lot of support for it is weak sauce.
It's a very dishonest and not very effective way to make an argument.
