Brazil very unlucky. Argentina shot ONCE on goal the whole game. ONCE. But scored. They did play better the first half, but Brazil played much better the second half and had many opportunities, with a couple of great saves by the Argentinian goalie. Argentina stalled and were manipulative for the entire second half, in a masterclass of South American shenanigans. Messi did nothing. Neymar fought like hell and was chased around with fouls all the time.

The best team did not win today.

On the other hand, any soccer-loving person on the planet must feel good for Messi. The guy did deserve to lift a trophy with his national team, and he finally did it in his 10th attempt. His career is now complete.

Messi was a shadow of his usual self during the final, like it is often the case for him in finals, but he was instrumental for his team during all the other phases of the tournament so he is a deserving gold medalist. Good for him. Congratulations, Messi.

Sorry CF, the better team won, used its chance. Disrupted Brazil all the way. Never really allowed Brazil to get into the game. In the end weathered the final storm.
Messi should have made that goal, but it showed the enormous pressure that was on him.

Argentina, worked for it and it worked.
The more fired up and united team, won.

    What a great match.

This is my resume of the game. You can neutralize Messi and a fired up Argentina can get it done.
You neutralize Neymar and Brazil can not get it done

Well, gnoib, when Italy weathered the Spanish storm you said that the better team did not win. So now despite Argentina having ONE shot on goal and Brazil entirely dominating the second half and attacking much more, with some miraculous saves by their goalie, and now suddenly the dominant team is not the best team any longer? That's a double standard, because you were rooting against Italy, and against Brazil. You are entitled to thinking that Spain were better, but then, if you say so, you must also say that Brazil were better.

Brazil clearly were the better team today, played cleaner, didn't engage in the anti-game tactics that Argentina employed, and they were just a bit unlucky. Like, Argentina scored a goal that by a hair wasn't off-side. Brazil scored a goal that by a hair was. Both refereeing decisions were correct, but what I'm saying is that one team scored out of ONE shot on goal... and did nothing else from that point on other than fouling, stalling, and rolling on the ground each time a Brazilian walked by. And you say that this was the better team?

At least in the Italian game we had several dangerous counters and did shoot the same number of shots on target that Spain did.

Argentina, one. ONE miserable shot, for 96 minutes, and they walk away the champions. No, the best team did not win.

Neymar was neutralized with fouls. Not with fair play. That's all that Argentina did: they fouled a lot. Yes, they scored a lucky goal and had some lucky bounces and miraculous saves... nothing else. 9 yellow cards for Argentina! It was criminal that the ref never showed a second yellow card to the same player, especially Otamundi who should have been expelled with a second yellow for what he kept doing to Neymar.

Messi was one of the worst players in the game. Did absolutely nothing. Zero. But again, I congratulate him for what he did in the other games and for the bulk of his career. I'm actually happy for him. From this, to thinking that Argentina was the better team today, there is a huge difference.

Time to pop out for a bottle of port before the first final of today.
Djokovic against some Italian chancer at the Wimbledon Men's final.
Hopefully not the only disappointed Italian there's going to be today.

Alright, I've got it out of my system.
I'll be respectful from now on CF my friend.

    May the best side win.
Let's hope for an entertaining, clean game with no controversies or poor VAR decisions and for Gaia's sake NO PENALTIES.

Well Berrettini isn't going to let Djokovic win this without a fight.
One set all with Djokovic 4-3 up with a break in the third.
