In my opinion the following article has a potential positive side to it. For one thing... .a billion dollar agricultural industry was created in this area and a lot of jobs were created but apparently most of them don't pay well at all. The fact that this industry is combined with large scale desalination of ocean water does offer hope for many nations where it is difficult to grow food. Europe's Dirty Little Secret: Moroccan Slaves and a 'Sea of Plastic' Another obvious plus to all of this is that a lot of food is being produced. Now if labour conditions could be greatly improved and if the greenhouses could move towards being organic so that the workers were exposed to fewer chemicals that would be good news as well.
