UK citizen, retired, former teacher. Friendly, yet independent with a tendency to sometimes ramble on as you do when you get older. I generally write my own content and I’m too old to get involved in partisan and personality cult politics.

Is there room here for a member of the silent majority? We’re the largest revolutionary collective in the west, feared by politicians and best known for stopping the current crazies having a re-run of 20th century failed ideologies.

I also have a serious side. Are there touchy-feely subjects to avoid? Am I allowed to mention delicate subjects such as someone identifying as a carrot trapped in a human body, or Joe Biden shaking the hand of the invisible man? Sure to offend someone.

Likes: Political satire. Raising British state pensions to ridiculous amounts.

Dislikes: Cultural Marxism (identity politics.) The recent corporate fascism of Trump in the US. Current British conservative corporatism.

Visit the Humor & Satire thread for Kris P. Bacon’s alternative introduction page.

Hi Kris P. Bacon (that's funny),

I'm MJ. I'm non-partisan but each side thinks I am with the "enemy". LOL I am American, born and raised in Chicago, IL.

I am pro-America/USA!!! (but not xenophobic or ethnophobia).
I am not bigoted in any way against anybody.
I'm highly allergic to whackadoodles (crazy, whiny, argumentative, etc).
I will engage in conversations with anyone if we have a difference of opinion.
I will not engage with anyone that is disrespectful and hateful.
I am very grateful for our military because they defend our freedom.
I may not agree, but vehemently defend everyone's right to Freedom of Speech.

I have hope that we all can find a way to come together for the good of our nation and work toward making us truly UNITED again.

I made these screenshots in case you haven't had time to find your way around. These are the things I would have liked to have known when I signed up so, hopefully, it helps.

Welcome! It's a partisan forum but there's enough in the centre to have a bit of fun.

I was beginning to think my intro was being ostracized and it was something I said. :)

I’m one of the near extinct species that still rely on knowledge, logic and common sense instead of partisan politics. That often puts me at odds with the faithful. I stay clear of the political extremes and so to the American Democrats I’m a fascist and to the Republicans I’m a knee jerking liberal.

To put a human face to Kris P. Bacon, I returned to the UK (2019) after working abroad in Asia and the Far East for a number of years. Not that I wanted to, but long stay immigration requirements everywhere have tightened up and although I’ve now retired I’ve hated every minute of being back in England and spend my time dreaming of ways to return.

I suppose I’d better write a thread today and see the response.

    Thanks.

I don't know the holiday schedule in your neck of the woods but today is Father's Day in the USA. Many posters are probably hanging out with their dads somewhere. My dad passed a year and a week ago so I'm home today or I wouldn't have responded either.

Don't worry. People will straggle back in. I doubt you've stepped on any toes.

Yes, today is Father’s Day in the UK, but it’s not really a big event over here. As for stepping on people’s toes I’m sure that’s yet to come. I’ll do a thread on Ukraine after lunch and put it on the Politics by Region (Russia and Eastern Europe) thread. Might produce some hysterical responses? :eyepopping:

I visited my brother in London the other week. Loved it, but dread returning to Melbourne, Australia. Funny how that works...

We had it bad here at the height of the Covid hysteria as it turned into nonsense such as banning the sale of non-essential items like clothing and furniture as we were told it might spread the flu, but I hear you had it worse.

I watched YouTube vids of small gangs of police roaming the streets beating people up for daring to come out of their houses. We only got beaten up if we protested in groups, otherwise just fined. We’re now told to open our windows to let the flu out and it’s all gone quiet as people simply got fed up with it all and Ukraine became the new hysteria.

I still can’t understand why if I hadn’t got the flu I was passing it on to those who had, but I suppose that was all part of the manufactured fear. Also refused their many offers of vaccinations and booster jabs.

I don’t know who was worse, Gillard or Morrison, but all across the west I feel the authoritarianism begin to creep in as the progressives who cheered on the previous anarchy presented as freedom now begin to reign it in.

Ah yes Kris. The dynamique thinking of the UK government in letting untested elderly people in hospital back into their care homes, and roaming care workers visit from one to another without testing or proper PPE .
When they say you dont have to be a genius to be in government, they mean it is geniuses need not apply.

According to ONS figures, an average of 26K people die from ordinary flu in Britain every year, most of them elderly. Covid was a danger to them and those with respiratory problems such as asthma and people with weak immune systems.

Every time someone came on shift in a hospital or care home there was the possibility of them bringing the flu in with them and in enclosed spaces a paper mask from Tesco’s and washing your hands wasn’t going to prevent infection from an airborne virus.

The hysteria ended as quickly as it began and if there was a way of counting who died from it versus those who died with it, I doubt there would be any marked difference. I’m still convinced it was a scam that a few made massive profits from.

Non-partisan seems to be the way of the future .. at least if the newest adults (the 16 - 21 set) are any measure. You're down with the kids without realising it!

Welcome, by the way. I'm a middle aged traditional Leftist (holding with the foundation principle of self-determination for the common man), and live in the East. I'm impressed that you find our side of the planet nicer than the UK, but only because I detest hot weather :D

I did. I brought a pile of shiny one dollar coins with me to give away but on the way in I met a man called Barry and I asked him could we give them away and he said, yes we can. So I gave them to him and he said he’d spread the wealth I brought around. Do you think we might have been scammed?

First, apologies for the delay. It’s this ten posts rule which means by the time I reply and it gets through, the conversation has often moved on.

I take it you mean the eastern part of the world and not America?

I look around the west and the promotion of sexual deviances, legalization of drugs, mass-immigration with the aim of creating an equality based colour blind society and always, always behind it are the political demagogues. The meek may inherit the earth, but be very sure that ruthless despots will rule a majority of it.

What we got is not freedom but a self-inflicted dose of Cultural Marxism and one of the main reasons society is now falling apart around us. The hippies of the 60’s, the ones we used to laugh at with their ‘peace man’ and ‘do your own thing’ came back at us after half a century with a vengeance and this time it went mainstream.

If you have half an hour spare, make yourself a cup of tea (always tea when reading Kris P. Bacon’s posts - milk and one sugar) and listen to a couple of Americans who explain why the battle between red and blue is just a sideshow in which nothing changes.

I too have lived in totalitarian and indoctrinated societies. I understand completely what Chris Hedges is saying.

A critique of American foreign policy and exceptionalism.

Not at all. From the identity politics of Obama to the corporate fascism of Trump and onto our own idiocracy here in Britain, I treat it all with equal distain. I know the ideology we now have in the west and comment on the effects and consequences. I’m the new-age Nostradamus come to heal the forum and save you from Biden’s transgendered Brussel sprouts.

I wish the majority of the membership here was comprised of the "silent majority." I would also like to hear more from the silent majority, because their silence allows the radicals and extremists to control the narrative and the political parties, at least here in Trumpistan.
