Sure, but would it make for a sustainable democracy in the year 2019 for only one single point of view to be allowed on social media and Youtube?

 

Would you be in favor of banning organizations that advocate the setting up of a one-party state in the US, or which glorify and apologize for one-party states elsewhere?

 

Facebook isn't the government.. They don't have to give Calypso Louie a voice.

 

Generally, when there is competition, consumer choice exists and if you don't like the policies or product of one supplier, you can switch to another.
However, economists recognize 'natural monopolies', where competition is difficult or impossible: in the past, utilities like water, gas, or electricity supply were seen as 'natural monopolies', which one producer would necessarily dominate ... and this was seen as a valid reason for government regulation.

Republicans have embraced libertarian economics over the last few decades, and probably have abandoned this old idea. It has become possible to privatize at least certain aspects of utilities, so the argument for state regulation -- part of the 'mixed economy' thinkiing the Republican leadership became hostile to. Now this rigid thinking is beginning to be uncomfortable for them, as monopoly-information corporations, dominated by the graduates of the politicized American academy, begin to squeeze out thoughtcrime. Globalized free trade is in the process of destroying the American working class, a similar development.

Will the Republican base -- who never really bought into this naked raw red capitalism, but supported the Republicans for (valid) 'social' reasons -- be able to raise up a new Republican leadership who will return to the 'mixed economy' thinking that dominated both parties when America was becoming the greatest nation in the world? A 'Trumpist' leadership without the repulsive personal characteristics of Trump? It's not impossible.

 

Facebook isn't owned by the government, you know.. They can ban whomever they choose to ban.

No problem as within weeks there would be thousands of servers and websites place on line to meet the desire and demands of the rest of us that facebook and youtube would no longer be meeting.

Neither facebook or youtube have control of the internet.

Even before the internet became common there was crying over the dial up network AOL censorship and even at that early time there was plenty of other networks other then AOL that one could go to.

Sorry but you are putting forward something that can not occur by the very nature of both human nature and the technology of the internet.
