I cant believe it and i´m so happy. Here in my state Thuringia, the AfD already is strongest party, same counts for Brandenburg, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

In Thuringia, Brndeburg and Sachsen are soon elections and in my state only with teh AfD can a government be formed. If it runs well, AfD will also place the Ministerpräsident.

In entire Germany AfD was place 3 until recently but managed to reach Nr. 2 position.

Why am i happy about that?

Because you can witness how the old encrusted system collapses right now. The SPD imploded. And Merkel is barey staying in charge, cant form a government and is under heavy attack.

Their ideology, that ignored the own people, is dieing. But they dont know what to do. The elites here look at the AfD like a rabbit at a snake, but incapable to understand what people want, they run off the cliff.

Merkel on the other side tried to do as always and even wanted to install all the liberal scum as ministers as before. Her own party forces her now to install far right politicians and conservatives.

There is not much she can do now since her own party members demand from her to build up a sucessor.

I read an article where they are now not enforcing health regulations for street food vendors b/c if they are fined they could be deported. So now the mexicans have urine bottles on their food carts. What happened to the importance of public safety? Dems don't really care about that. All they want is votes to continue their heavy handed, high priced, destructive policies.

Interesting that the previously Communist controlled area of Germany is shifting to the right the quickest. Is there a correlation, Draco ?

 

Not a German but from what I've heard from both Germans and the media, East Germany got left behind post unification to the point of spawning a growing separatist movement. I'd say the rise of the far right is based more on a rejection of West German values than a rejection of socialism. If a far left party were to establish a staunch East German platform they'd likely have a good showing as well. The problem is that the more left you go, the less nationalist you get. Breaking up Germany rather than working to establish a new international order would be a hard reversal to make so I wouldn't expect a strong showing from the left until/unless Germany breaks up and a local far left party is formed.

 

Eastern Germany preserved the prussian spririt. We dont take ****. West Germany got totaly mindfucked.

People here know Propaganda. Tehy are used to it. The american propaganda compared to communist propaganda is pretty cheap. West Germans dont question what they get told.

The federal polls see the AFD at about 15%, last time I looked at our constitution you need a majority to form a government but unless the AFD didn't get rid of their far right extremists no party will form a coalition with them.

Prussian spirit? Look at Friedrich II., the most important king of Prussia. He banned torture in Prussia, welcomed refugees, established a free press and supported the ideas of the Enlightment. Your Prussian spirit is the idea of Prussia spread by the Nazi propaganda.

I do not think labels such as Left/Right in terms of local politics never mind global politics as they mean different things to different people.

For example ... being "anti -abortion" to some is being "right" however, this stance is an anathema to Republicanism.

More to the point "Immigration", there are many on the left that support changes to our current immigration system and many on the right that want amnesty for dreamers.

Rather than using labels - it is better to state what one means. I agree that there is a shift towards xenophobia and I think this is a good thing (in the right measure). Generalized xenophobia is irrational and stupid. Targeted xenophobia can be quite rational and smart.

Where do we draw the line if not there ? Is it somehow ok for someone to kill others simply on the basis that these others do not share his particular religious belief or in some way are in violation of a personal religious belief ?
