That's what I'm worried about. So much damage was done, how long will it take to fix this mess Trump created? It's going to be a long time before things change.

Folks, take note of the lefty circus show in this thread.
Notice how they start out with “proud boys”, a multicultural group and try to twist it into white supremacy
Take heed of the race baiting (they can’t resist)
Oh and also lock your doors. There might be white supremacists hiding in the bushes

Yep, and if they're not centrally organized then they are not real and not a threat. Just like Antifa.................................................................................................................................... :roflol:

Please explain to us exactly what, if anything, these groups have done wrong.

Please don't invoke guilt by association.

I thought the Oath Keepers were a pretty normal group that is not that uncommon among many former military members and law enforcement officers (maybe being pro-gun rights is considered "radical & extremist" these days?), and as for the shenanigans of the Proud Boys, that is hardly worse than the disorderly conduct seen on a much wider massive scale by BLM-affiliated groups. Seems like the worst they do is just go out there to intentionally trigger the intolerant, hoping it will give them an excuse to fight those people when they attack.

If they are, it means they're getting smarter. Feds have been provacateuring extremist groups (both right and left) to justify their funding for decades. The vast bulk of terrorist plots 'foiled' by the FBI were thought up, funded and executed by the FBI through some hairbrained extremist nutjob they found hiding on the fringes of society who, without the FBIs help, never would have got past the 'sitting at home bitching about the govt' stage.

Is that law enforcement conducting surveillance and intimidation on targets that are not doing anything wrong, where there is no sign whatsoever of anything seriously illegal?

If so, I would think they would have every right and reason to want to avoid that.

Heaven forbid a politically oriented group would "seek positions of office and try to take power".

Now, should maybe we talk about the "extremists" who have already taken power?

And what type of damage are we referring to, exactly?

A disorderly mob going through the capitol building couldn't have possibly done more damage than downtowns in numerous cities across America being smashed and ransacked and set on fire, could it?

Sorry, I think some of you have swallowed a hefty dose of the news media Kool-Aide.

I won't condone this disorderly belligerent mob, or others that have occurred over the past 2 years, but I think we all know there's some double standards and selective political bias going on here.

Not really. See we can explain the 2020 riots as Covid responses. People didn't have jobs, add in tensions over BLM- bad a bing, you get a riot. Note that it has nothing to do with the transition of power. It helps to explain why compared to the past racial riots in the US, they weren't as bad compared to the 1960's. So in other words, the institutional damage is minimum. People riot. Nothing new about that. What is new however, is when a 'riot' or coup or whatever you want to call it happens during a transition of power. When that happens, we have to be more careful about the institutional damage done. Because riots tends to have elite support. So in other words, elites are thinking that we can have violent transfers of power. And that's not very democratic. Very different reasons for the responses.
