Depends what you mean by 'threat'. For the last few decades, most lethal terrorist violence came from people on the fascist Right. At the moment, the fascist Left haven't worked themselves up to murder -- remember that this is the guns-are-evil crowd. And they're not very practical -- when their ancestors, the Weathermen, tried to make a bomb to kill GIs and their dates at a dance at Fort Dix, they ended up blowing themselves up. Anarchists in the US at the beginning of the century -- the tendency that Sacco and Vanzetti belonged to -- managed to kill people -- 38 at a 'Preparedness Day' parade in New York -- but they too tended to kill themselves through unskillful bomb-making. In any case, this sort of thing is a nuisance but it's not an existential threat. In a real escalation of violence, the temptation for conservatives will be to make some sort of alliance with the fascist/racist right. It's one that should be resisted. In the meantime, every liberty-lover should acquire an AR15 and a thousand rounds of ammo.
There is no significant fascist right. There is a significant fascistic left. PF posters are an indication of this. Read the posts. There are promotions, defenses, or apologies for the Antifa-terrorists. There are none of those for KKK, Nazis, or white-supremacists.
We are showing absolute constraint but the violent tendencies of the left will one day spark a response, and I assure you that it's a response you hope never happens.
look like? umm those are real injuries its not Hollywood makeup and who would risk the chance of getting arrested for assault over some prank? you argument is very weak and absurd nut case conspiracy tin foil hat even
I'm sure you truly believe what you believe, but I have seen these conflicts up close. My son, who sometimes does freelance photography, has me join him in getting close to the action. I, like you, wish the violence would stop. But what you think it is, is quite incorrect. On one side is groups of conservative men who keep coming to Portland to have rallies, and then go looking for a fight. Most look like they lifted weights at some point in their life, even though many of them now look to be rather squishy in the middle. By their dress and the drills they do, I'm sure many have military experience. They claim that their rallies are about free speech. I've heard their speeches. Do you know what they talk about? They defend men accused of sexual assault while blaming feminists and liberals for their lack of female companions. They also throw in a little Jesus. On the other side the counter protests are mostly organized by a rape survivors' group. One of their organizers has been known to say, "Do you know how to beat fascists? With many more anti-fascists." To be sure, on a one to one fight, the right-wingers would clearly win. But they are always grossly outnumbered. They used to show up with maybe three dozen members. Due to the efforts of the AntiFa, their numbers are now about half that. The fights are rather useless. There tends to be crowds of maybe three or four hundred, who boo and taunt, the men who defend men accused of sexual assault. Time and time again, these sexually frustrated right wingers wade into the crowd, expecting a fight, and soon find themselves turning tail and running for safety. The shop that made the milkshakes, that were thrown at the right wing defenders of men accused of sexual assault, has since received multiple death threats. And you wonder why the AntiFa wears masks. It is to avoid being shot by an uppity conservative with a gun. So what response were you planning? More defense of sexual assault? More hero worship of creeps?
Funny you should say that. It is one of those industries that brings a lot of money into Portland. The companies in Portland are clearly leading edge.
This latest event in Portland was between a group of men defending men accused of sexual assault and a group of rape survivors. I've seen another video of the event. It began with a woman, who had been holding a sign, clobbering Andy Ngo, and clobbering him good. Enough that he staggered from the blows. The crowd was laughing at him and calling him names, pelting him with milkshakes and eggs, as he staggered away. However I should point out, there was no cement in the milkshakes. That is just the usual right wing silliness.
If the cops manage to positively identify the perps, I have no doubt (whatsoever) that the perps will be connected to the Trump False Flag Dirty Tricks Squad.
What injuries are those? The milkshakes cover his head and I don't see any bleeding , (And your head will bleed copiously and not quickly stop if it's hit hard, this is why people with head injuries often appear to be covered in blood). Who would arrest him and for what? He's a journalist, he could find out how to stage this kind of thing rather easily
Even in the videos I see him bleeding from his ear. He sustained a brain bleed. Why are you basing your clearly non medical opinion on what you see in a video? Did you read about this in some magazine?
And the right embraces and loves gay folks in fact a conservative Christian would love to bake and decorate gay themed wedding cakes.derpa
I based my opinion on what I saw in the video, and I didn't notice any bleeding. I know that head wounds bleed a lot more than other types from personal experience and what a doctor told me. Just what is a "brain bleed" anyway?
I disagree with your opinion because you should not base it on what you see or notice in a film. In my toned down response, we will pretend an amateur is somehow an authority on matters of life and death. Crazy I know.
Here, from Antifa themselves: Rose City Antifa on 6/29 Antifascist Mobilization in Portland By Rose City Antifa - July 3, 2019 433 Report and analysis from Rose City Antifa on the mass antifascist mobilization in Portland last weekend as well as a rebuff from attempts to smear the event from the center and the Right. On June 29, 2019, Andy Ngo tried a repeat of his actions on May 1, 2019– to film the actions of armed men on a mission to attack activists, to be used for propaganda purposes. As on May Day, this past weekend he and the far-right mob were stopped, physically. The events of this weekend are what we mean by community defense. The entire community came together, using multiple tactics, and sent a premeditated attack by the far-right packing. This is exactly what should happen when the far-right attempts to invade our town. On May 1, a party was held at a local bar. A group of far-right brawlers sought out this bar, looking for people to victimize. In the resulting melee, Ian Kramer fractured a person’s vertebrae with a metal baton. Andy Ngo arrived with this far-right group, filmed this assault, profited by it with appearances on national media, doxxed and harassed the victim, and distributed his video as propaganda to support more attacks. He did this in cooperation with David Willis, an anti-semite; Ian Kramer and Eric Oelkers, both fascists; Joey Gibson, leader of Patriot Prayer; and other Proud Boys and far-right brawlers. Andy Ngo doxxes the person hit by Ian Kramer, enleashing a deluge of threats against them. Andy Ngo was the first to announce the June 29 Proud Boy rally at their behest, serving as their unofficial PR spokesperson. His actions on that day were part of a plan to repeat his performance on May 1. But he and the Oregon Militia men who accompanied him were stopped in their tracks. He will have no video to sell, showing activists being attacked. Ngo announces the Proud Boy rally on Twitter. The responses to Ngo’s tweet show the value his video work has for Proud Boys and the far-right, encouraging violence and hatred. We say, enough is enough. If you rally the far-right to attack our city and profit by their violence, you are one of them. And the community will stop you, however it can, as many times as it must. Harkening back to 2016, when the media had a panic about “free speech,” we have heard a new panic about “freedom of the press.” Just as freedom of speech has never suffered through the years from anti-fascists defending their cities against neo-Nazi organizing and far-right incursions, the fourth estate is not being attacked by the left. The propagation of violence, the profiting by fascist mob action, and the instigation of hateful ideologies is not journalism, any more than it is free speech. Ngo himself, along with his far-right publications, have promoted death threats against journalists and academics. RCA will defend our community against those threats, as we always have.
