What on earth has happened and is happening.I say it all goes back to the basics and that means the help { Employees }.Today's Millennials are just not concerned like the way Our forefathers { Grandma & Grandpa and Ma & Pa } were. That's it in a nutshell. The older generations like the Great Generation { Pre-Baby Boomers } truly valued their jobs and took them seriously.Of course they didn't know Fast Food until the 60's. But there were places like Big Boy's or Frisch's Big Boy.But it won't be long now before Big Boy's { started in the mid 1930's } goes the way of Blockbuster video. And that means kaput.Like Sears and K-Mart and other well established companies.Fast Food is in a different ballpark. They are truly start-up experiments. Most don't survive past a decade or two.So when you have a God-awful person like Bernie Sanders promising our Millennials Free College and Free this and free that, what do you expect them to think. They're gonna go off to their day job at Fast Food and bust their chops.Of course not. They're gonna slack off. The 3 basic tenets of a good Fast Food model and what has gone dramatically downhill in that market the last decade is simple. Poor Product. Poor Service. Poor Cleanliness. The Hallmark Motto of McDonalds. Or QSC. Quality,Service,Cleanliness. Good food that is affordable, fast { service } and in a clean environment. Sounds much more simple than in practice.Add into the fact that today's First time job employee isn't equipped with the tools their Grandpa and Grandma possessed.Starting with the attitude.Just tickled to have a job and willing to prove it every day while employed. What say you.? { don't be shy }.
Even the big fast food chains are usually individual franchises and the quality of employee and service will vary based on management. For example the Wendy's in my neighborhood. I've praised that place before on this forum and will continue to do so. Those kids who work there are the most professional and polite employees I have ever seen in a fast food joint, and arguably in any customer service venue in general. Whether you go there in the middle of the night or the middle of the day they are always extremely professional and well mannered and go out of their way to ensure great service. Whoever is in charge of those kids at that restaurant deserves a pat on the back. But the Wendy's 20 miles away in the next town is terrible and more akin to the crappy establishments run by disgruntled teenagers that we are used to when it comes to fast food. The ones who work at the McDonalds next to that good Wendy's are decent enough but not on the same level. Same as the Subway kids. The Taco Bell kids were ok. Just something about that Wendy's and who runs it. Just goes to show what proper leadership can do. I highly doubt it's pure coincidence that every single kid who works in that place is that professional and respectful, I think the manager has a standard of customer service that he or she strongly upholds and doesn't tolerate the lazy half assed service that we are so used to in fast food joints.
Fast Food is no different than a sit down restaurant as Hot head Gordon Ramsey { Brit } made a career out of demonstrating. Same thing with - Bar Rescue - and ballbuster Jon Taffer. Management is the key.Making sure the right help { employees } are hired and trained properly. Then almost daily follow-up with assistant Mngrs. and crew leaders.Ownership of a place may or may not be the key.A lot of Bar Owners are the reason their establishment is losing money and customers.
disagree, after the great recession Mcdonald's made the breakfast menu all day. that was their secret weapon to keep their stocks up since the 1960's, and it worked. that and introducing bagels in their breakfast sandwiches.
Our MCdonalds (yes, that small, ONE micky D's) is doing their best to run the place into the ground. The other night, my fillet o fish had HALF a piece of cheese and my Big Mac was askance and had a hair in it. They were 24/7 but now close the lobby from 11pm to 5am and as the wait is so long, going back thru the drive thru to complain, would take another 20-30 minutes.
Can you send him and his cousins here? Our little town recently had our WalMart closing from 1am to 5am and the only options in the wee hours are MickyD's and 2 Circle K's (gas station chains) and almost every fast food joint in town, suffers from terrible management. LOL, meme someone custom made (we have heard we are getting a WaWa for years) it's the WalMart of gas stations
all the 'big' chains want to go fully automated, soon to come... https://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/28/in-...ts-will-be-automated-says-yum-brands-ceo.html
Croydon has Taco Bell now. ^ Last time I went to Taco Bell. But now with lock down, I hope Taco Bell survives lock down. We've got other chains; McDonald's Burger King KFC Subway Pizza Hut Domino's I mean, who hasn't got these? We've got Five Guys in Croydon too . There's a Chipotle I know near Soho on Charring Cross Road too; on the border between City of Westminster and Camden; I haven't been to Chipotle yet but it's been there a while. I sure hope Taco Bell in Croydon survives lock down though. My neighbourhood of Thornton Heath (in Croydon) has some chicken shops and Jamaican places I like, one Jamaican burger joint that does a nice jerk burger (either beef or chicken) with a side of nachos, I hope that survives too. Thornton Heath also has a drive-thru McDonald's at Thornton Heath Pond and a Subway on the High Street near my house, also have a Dominos on the High Street too. Croydon's also got TGI Friday's too and there's a Rain Forest Cafe at Piccadilly Circus.
I own a franchise (not saying which) and although we were down 60% (based on last years figures), we are now up to just 30% down. I'm hoping we'll be up to 100% by August. TBD
Would you mind loaning them to the employees at my local Wendy's or have that owner buy ours? I'm not big on fast food, but it's so disappointing to get a wrong order EVERY SINGLE TIME.
