The poor boy....a victim of modern societal influences within an intolerant society. :disbelief:

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A 17-year-old man, identified only as Roşin Ç., is suspected to have been murdered in cold blood by his father, with the complicity of his two uncles, after being heavily beaten. His body was found dumped on the roadside near a hospital.

However, the father, identified as M.Ç., has argued that the killing was an accident, which took place after his gun accidentally discharged. He said he had gone out to search for his son who had disappeared for 10 days, adding that his only intention was to “cure” him. “I wanted to talk with him in the car. I asked him what his problem was. He started insulting me. He strangled me and punched me. I wanted to cure him. When he attacked me, I hit him with the butt of the gun. That's when the gun fired,” M.Ç. told the court.

The father denied that either the uncles suspected of complicity, or the deceased’s mother, were involved in the incident. “I had a stroke because of it. I hid the facts, fearing that my wife would divorce me. I regret what I did,” he said.

However, M.Ç.’s version of the story was contradicted by Roşin Ç.’s younger brother. “My uncle told me: ‘I will [kill] him, you take the blame. We will dump him on the road.’ I refused. When we were having dinner that night, my uncle told my father: ‘You will blow his brains out today, or I will blow your brains out tomorrow,’” he said during the trial, adding that on the same night both his father and his uncle went to “search” for Roşin Ç.

However, he was interrupted while giving his testimony by his mother, who said he “did not know what he was saying.” During a pause in the hearing, the mother also turned to reporters following the case and said: “If he was a homosexual, I would have killed him with my own hands. You [reporters] have shamed us.”

I blame MOHAMMAD, as the Islamic texts say to kill gays.
The father was just doing what Mohammad's invisible friend commanded him to do.

    http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Islam_and_Homosexuality

Just like when Christians discriminate against gays, or women, or non-Christians, they are just following what the Bible tells/implies that they should do. So in those cases I blame Jesus for not taking time out from his busy schedule of (allegedly) causing "acts of god" such as deadly tornadoes, deadly floods, deadly tsunamis, etc. to simply come down and tell us that we are wrong to do that, to clear up all the hatred in the Bible once and for all. By not doing so, he's making himself look powerless and/or immoral.

So the question is, how do we get people to stop believing in invisible friends? Your reply?

Yeah, it's interesting there are no personal details on the family and my first thought was I wonder if they are Moo-slums, and then I open the link and it's a Turkish story, so problem solved.

Time to ban Islam for good.

I like your thinking, but a BETTER way is to give them a POSITIVE ALTERNATIVE to Islam, which is modern Secular Humanism. By "banning" Islam, we take away the freedom of our fellow human beings that modern Secular Humanism so cherishes....better to show them a better way, a way with love instead of Mohammad's pedophilia, kindness instead of Mohammad's approval of torture, and logic instead of Mohammad's magic flying horse (buraq), etc.

    Buraq: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buraq

Mohammad was so insane that he believed that a person might be living in your nose (yes, he believed that....clearly he was as delusional as people who believe in a talking snake): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jinn

He also slept with a dead woman (do that today, and you'll end up in a straight-jacket, obviously):
Narrated by Ibn Abbas: "I (Muhammad) put on her my shirt that she may wear the clothes of heaven, and SLEPT with her in her coffin.

Mohammad did say a number of very GOOD things, but he was also clinically insane by modern standards.

"“If he was a homosexual, I would have killed him with my own hands."
Perhaps we can get OJLeb to, as a start, remove the hatred of gays from his Islamic texts, as a goodwill gesture towards the 300 million estimated LGBT in the world today.

    - - - Updated - - -

Since Christianity says to kill gays as well, can we both agree that the Abrahamic Faiths are just all screwed up, are just desert legends, and clearly not from some alleged all-loving invisible man in the sky?

It was an Islamic honor killing, I bet a lot of the left-wingers who read this were hoping it was a Christian. Probably that's why this story only has 4 posts.

It's amazing how the humiliation of the reporters telling the world her son was a homosexual was considered worse by the mother than the loss of her son. But social pressure is strong in almost every society. The uncle who pressured the father to kill him, should have his own sons killed to know what it feels like...or better yet, they should be raped. :disbelief:

For being a "non-muslim arab" or whatever it was you sure are quick to defend Islam.

I try to not talk about Islam around non-muslim Arabs I know because they will bore me to death with everything they know about it and how horrible it is etc etc.

    Just sayin'

I'm now wondering if Christians and right wingers aren't rubbing their hands in glee - 'One down, several million to go'.

I simply prefer to focus on Arab/Islamic affairs; if I see misinformation concerning the two subjects, I will attempt to recitify it.

I'm not interested in the personal anecdotes of the average non-Muslim Arab living in the West; trust me, I have talked to them about Islam/Muslims, and their views are as ignorant and racist as the views of most of the posters here.

Islam gets the blame because that's the majority religion in Turkey and that religion dives the culture. Think about this: If this crime was perpetrated by a WASP in the United States, who or what will be blamed? The majority religion of the US (Christianity). As long as you are fair and defend Christians when they are unfairly blamed for an isolated crime, I'll cut you some slack here.

    But that goes both ways.

I have no problem with Christians defending their faith when Christianity is unfairly blamed for an isolated crime.

Pesky little self-hating racist western Arabs eh?

All they ever want to do i quote the profit and the holy quran. How rude right? They offend Islam when they accurately recite its teachings. And whats worse, they are slightly more difficult to kill eerrr i mean ask nicely to be quiet, being halfway around the world and all.

If it was a murder at all, it would surely not be an incident that it would have taken place within a muslim community. Nevertheless the father still denies it and as long as no court convicted him, I consider him as innocent. Being the follower of a barbaric desert cult does not protect you from accidents.

You mean they routinely quote the quran and prophet out of context. You seem to think that Arab non-Muslims must have accurate knowledge of Muslims/Islam simply because they used to live in the Arab world!

What's the point in studying and acquiring intellectual knowledge when you can just ask Joseph about Islam? He did after all happen to live in the Middle East 20 years ago!
