    I've lost sleep over it.
I mean 'what if they did'

Sure, I've was working on the other side of London Bridge when terrorism happened my hoping no one I knew were hurt.
I saw before, during and after that chaos in my week on that job...

I saw Croydon get diverted to my neighbourhood after a drive by shooting killed a guy in Croydon.

I saw those flats in West London burn down on the news and was reminded of my friends there and of my own experience there after Notting Hill Carnival ...

Another block of flats that had just been built closed down my high street the day after the West London fire.

But what if they ripped off Sweet Child O' Mine?
I've lost sleep thinking about this I'm sorry to say... I... Don't know anymore...
Had me thinking all sorts of crazy stories lol of everything and if maybe this is why they split up over 20 years and one of them likened the other to cancer; was it because they done something so bad and pretended to write Sweet Child O' Mine and told his band members it was his and that's why the person who wrote Sweet Child O' Mine hated it for the longest time???

All sorts of craziness comes from this big 'what if'

I've even played it how I would if I'd wrote that riff around the music and got close to playing a Guns N' Roses 1986 version of Sweet Child O Mine where the intro is much longer and plays through out when I wanted to see for myself, and my evidence concluded that the riff fits; they changed the tuning, but it's almost conclusive that they did; and then 30 years of my 30 year old life... Was spent learning from a bunch of cheaters, IDK anymore (about life).
So I hope it really is a big coincidence, but I fear it was something created from the first song. There would be some honour about it, since the band members themselves worked hard and themselves brought valuable and original work to this song, but the skeleton of the song, a huge huge huge part of what makes this upbeat ballad so popular, wasn't theirs...

It's been bugging me now ever since I learned about it this morning in the middle of the night. - If I'm to be honest.

Aww well. You shouldn't let it bother you so much. Led Zeppelin was accused of stealing some songs too. I think they took those old songs that nobody ever heard of before and made them popular. I would never have heard of them if not for Led Zeppelin. :D

This is a Swedish classic that I had no idea was a cover lol:

    Original:

Btw. I always thought the Swedish lyrics was dumb because I thought they sing; "[...]golden-brown eyes[...] so blue, they will never be again" So blue? You just said they were golden-brown, you fool!

Buuut just realised it actually does make sense and is "so, blue they will never be again." Lolz. :p

Reminds me of the song "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" by Crystal Gayle.

People only steal songs when they don't tell the truth of how they wrote it, there's nothing wrong with an honest cover.

I always found the melody of the pre-chours of Rasputin by Boney M was "stolen" from a traditional Turkish song:

    "Kind of original"

The "he could preach the Bible like a preacher..."-part is just too similar.

No, it doesn't sound familiar to me at all, and I listen to a LOT of music, as you know! Lol! I don't know. Just one of those things, I guess. :D

I am sure you must have heard of the band (Boney M) though? If not, I am sure you would recognise some of their songs if you started browsing their supply. :p

I don't know. I would have to listen to some of their songs to know for sure. Maybe I will do that later. :) I have to go in a couple of minutes and get ready for work.

Off the top of my head, Judas Priest's cover of Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust" is probably my favorite:

When I first left England in 2001...
It was to USA, flew in and out of Philadelphia, resided in Willow Grove, PA, road trips everyday (almost)..
And this track, defined that trip listening to it so much...

As luck would have it, (I was in the US for 2 weeks that November); The episode of the Simpsons that premiered when I was out there that I managed to catch, featured

The episode where Bart and Homer were tethered together due to some wacky court ruling...

I had never heard this song before I left England...
Love this song, and that cover was what I travelled around with.

    My most recent..
I recorded this just after I taught myself this after sitting down and figuring out what was what in terms of what to play and what to be tuned too.

(I like this still/Slash playing it).
