To be fair, there aren't a lot of people coming across borders into Russia and Iran, and we do have a long, relatively unpopulated border.

But that said, I think Obama should have tried to undo the Flores' consent decree and house entire families together pending expedited court hearings, and that was doable in terms of getting congress to build facilities and hire more judges. And I think Trump should be doing that rather than blowing hot air.

Congress would never agree, but I'd be fine with no amnesty unless a person applied before getting here.

Rubio stated that the very shortest path to citizenship would require significant work in documentation, payment of any back taxes, etc., and would require 13 years at the minimum. If Republicans can't appeal to a socially conservative and religious population in 13 years, then they are dead anyway.

He stated that few undocumented aliens would attempt that, as the cost vs. reward would be a huge deterrent.

As for those here, nobody has produced a plan involving deportation of 20m people that congress would pass. It's time to wake the heck up. We can do the things in the bipartisan bill of 2013. The number of undocumented aliens in the US has already stopped growing - even WITHOUT those measures. It's likely that the number here will decrease given that we're already at zero growth and the 2013 bill imposes significant new restrictions - visa, e-verify, $40B for the southern border.

Explain the constant stream of caravans of thousands of illegal aliens trekking across the nation of Mexico to the border of the united states.

 

There are also those leaving - on their own and through ICE blocking them at the border.

Right now, it appears that about 60% who come and stay illegally are coming by visa.

Trump's "wall" idea doesn't even address HALF of those coming here illegally.

We need a far more comprehensive approach to immigration.

Asylum seekers go before the court and if they are rejected they are removed.

Others come and go for various reasons. I'd bet they pretty much all have family outside of the US.

When jobs dried up due to the Bush recession, there were more leaving than coming.

 

They have all been sent home evicted from the land their campsite was on by the Union Pacific Rairoad who's land they were illegally occupying.

 

Kinda sad private citizens have to assume the responsibility of upholding the laws of our nation in lieu of the politicians that took an oath to actually do so.
