February Thread of the Month goes to Shiva_TD.
    http://www.politicalforum.com/showthread.php?t=444655&p=1065862448#post1065862448

We had several nominations for February Post of the Month. No awards will be handed out though as the criteria established with counting 'likes' for nominations was not met.
No 'like' votes were cast towards any of the nominations.

Congratulations Shiva_TD. Thank you for your contributions to this forum. It's appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted with a 'like'.

I nominated this post as post of the month and it had two 'likes', one from me and one from Shiva.

I went through all the nominations for post of the month to see how many 'like's each had and this one was nominated and had 5 likes. It should win for February should it not?

Perhaps the count was based upon the nomination post as opposed to the actual post. Like you I'd suggest counting the "likes" on the post itself as being most reflective of which post was likely the best post.

You could be right about that. In that case it's a tie between the post you nominated and one that Think For Myself nominated, with one like each.

I think it is the likes in the nomination post that signifies agreement, not likes on the original nominated post.

I can only say that when I reviewed the nominated posts I went to the linked post to review it in the context of the discussion and that's where I "liked" the post showing my approval of it. So my "vote" was on the actual post itself and not on the "nomination" post that merely references it.

Ultimately I like what the Mods are doing although there seems to be a minor problem with how the winner is being determined.

Always seeking a solution to problems as opposed to simply whining about them I'd suggest they count both the likes on the original post as well as on the nomination post and eliminate duplicates (because a member could "like" both resulting in a double vote) to come up with a "member" total.

It's just a suggestion but I think it would resolve any dispute and there's not all that much effort to do.

This sounds like a good idea. If Shiva's idea sounds like too much work though you could just award the March Thread of the Month to me. I'll send you my details for where to send the cash prize. :)
