So, do you not do a single "risky" thing in your life? Don't ride motorcycles/4-wheelers? Don't go out in a boat? Don't walk along potentially dangerous trails?

We all take risks on a daily basis. Some people take more than others, but we all take risks. With our current health care system, it is not about the "individual", it is about the "collective". We all contribute into a system where we all indirectly financially support the intentional and unintentional risks of others....risks that we all take. If we become concerned that some people intentionally take more risks than others....and we attempt to curb or stifle those risk for the good of the "collective", then we stifle Freedom. Once Freedom is curbed or stifled, it is only a matter of time before YOUR Freedom is curbed or stifled.

I do but I don't think other people should be required to subsidize or insure that at the point of a gun. Voluntarily is another story.

I am aware of what the current system is about, the collective. I am pointing out that none of us think that is equitable. I'm not asking anyone to curb their lifestyle I'm saying: DON'T PUT A GUN TO MY HEAD AND MAKE ME PAY FOR IT. See how that works?

I do understand your point and you do make valid points (I feel that insurance is a scam in many aspects). However, I also understand that people will live their lives and will do some things that others might not approve of. I also understand that I would be extremely grateful that medical cost do not ruin my life should I have an accident or do something risky in my life that ends up catching up to me. I do not feel that there is a "Gun to my head" when paying into the system that is used by all. I just figure that is my part to support a system to protect us all. Same thing for car insurance....or any insurance for that matter.

To often the people saying "why do I need to pay for your risky lifestyle", take risks themselves, but see no problem with others paying for their risky lifestyle. Not saying that is the case with you (or anybody else specifically) and I do not think these people are being intentionally hypocritical. I just think that these people just seem to ignore the risks that they take themselves.

Why do people purposely harm themselves eating chocolate? Playing physical sports? Piercing their bodies? Sitting on the couch watching TV or participating in online debate forums?

You and others contracting with the same company that has established PRIVATE contractual rules that people can pick and choose from and take or leave as THAT INDIVIDUAL PERSON WILLS VOLUNTARILY is fine.
Forcing people to buy insurance and forcing those companies to issue insurance, that complies with a laundry list of generalized terms many of which the persons have no actual need to pay for in plan, is what is unacceptable. Its the coercion involved, not the result. (For years I had no need of female birth control in my plan. I was an unmarried male. Now that I'm married and my wife and I share a plan it makes sense though I still shouldn't be forced to buy a plan with it)

I support your idea of picking and choosing what items are covered by your insurance FOR YOU. However, that does not mean you are not "paying" for birth control for others. You are even paying for uninsured people that need medical treatment. In the end, we are all participating in ALL treatment of others....no matter their injuries/treatment or the cause of those injuries/treatments.

Why would that be? Taking drugs is a choice, albeit a bad one but still a choice made by the individual. Why does society owe it to them to protect them from the consequences of a choice they made in spite of all the warnings?

So you have not seen the data on anti-seizure treatment? I know you are aware of using it to stimulate appetite in chemotherapy patients.

I really think you are being disingenuous.

Look at the results of being insured. Record profits for drug companies combined with record levels of illness. Can anything be bore harmful than the government trying to be helpful?

I live in CA and use marijuana. I buy CBD for my old dog and use it myself for pain. I do not take any pharm products. Am I a druggie?

Like most pharm products. Legal marijuana does cure unnecessary incarceration.

Because we ALL do things that are risky. We ALL make bad choices at one time or another. I don't think society needs to "protect" people from themselves, but society should be willing to help those that want to stop their possible "destruction actions".....for the good of society as a whole.

That is so convoluted. Society created the consequences you are referring to. In fact, the ONLY consequences associated with cannabis use are, in fact, the ones resulting from prohibition laws.

The same could be said about Tylenol.....or opioids....or any drug that masks pain.

If thats all there is to it

Meaning you are not trying to escape reality by getting high then no, I would not label you as a druggie

I think the idea that most people who use pot non-medically are doing so in order to escape reality is a misnomer. I know many people that use it recreationalally that do not smoke so much that they get blitzed. I see it as no different than those that like a single glass of wine in the evening...or a glass of bourbon...or even a good cigar after dinner. Of course, there will be those that abuse the "drug" just as much as those that abuse alcohol or any other drug. To be honest, I have see many more lives ruined by alcohol than I have seen ruined by pot.

If you choose to use drugs it is wrong to expect those who choose not to be so self destructive to save you from yourself. Those who choose not to go that route have recognized the damage and taken steps to avoid it.

    I dont dis agree

Alcohol has been the prdominat drug of choice for several thousand years

But giving weaklings more ways to ruin their lives is not a great idea

I hope you are not on cloud nine when racing your motorcycle

The best racers are VERY in touch with reality

Does that apply to alcohol as well? What about Cheeseburgers? How about people that live in large cities with higher pollution? People that ride bikes on busy city streets?

We ALL have our vices. We ALL have habits that others would see as "self-destructive" on some level.

Alcohol yes. The rest of your tirade is BS to attempt to justify your drug use.
