Is this what protestors were expecting?

At least cops will have some extra spending money for Christmas.

How so? Did the video help with Gardner?

the public gets to see these events, I think it helps in the long term

the public sees enough abuse, they will rise up and ask for change and justice imo.. copcams are a good start....

I would also not allow any confession given to police be allowed into court not video or audio recorded..... in this day and age their is no excuse for not having these statements digitally documented for a jury

the video may still cost the city in a civil suit

I dont see it helping at all really. We already see how many time dash board cameras are "not working properly" or "damaged".

Go around filming cops and see what reaction you get....

your right, that needs to change, not saying Feguson will bring about all changes needed, only that it is moving us in the right direction

cops arresting black reporters in Ferguson was wrong... and needs to change

if a cop cam AND a dash cam are both broke, fire the cop, they need to make sure their equipment is maintained as part of their job

if both are broke, that should also cause reasonable doubt on anything the cops says in a court of law

Why does the race of the reporters matter? Are you saying only Black reporters were arrested? What gives you that impression?

The purpose of such videos isn't to help specific individuals, it's to help establish facts. The video in the Gardner case made the basic sequence of events clear so the discussion and legal cases could focus exclusively on whether what happened was legal or not, unlike the Brown case where the focus of dispute and investigation was the basic facts of what happened. If there had been clear video of the Brown case showing him running at the police officer when he was shot (assuming that is what happened), I doubt it would have blown up in to such a high profile incident.

No the race pimps would have said the video was edited. The Progressives made up there mind when his friend claimed on TV that his hands were up. Go to any thread on the matter and they are STILL claiming his hands were up.

Yo! Cops have gotten overtime pay for overtime work since the beginning of well................overtime. The ignorant protestors didn't bring about any change in overtime pay.

    Damn !

    It's hopeless!

the cop over-reacting and unloading his gun in a unarmed man turning himself in was just the tip of the iceberg, the final straw, there was much that caused this to reach this boiling point, was this the perfect case to react to, no.... but it was the last of many issues, where the people finally decided change was needed and decided to speak up

    We need cop cams.

Like when that racist POS Oakland fireman tried to lie about how the white officer treated him...

Thank God he had a body cam to show the truth, otherwise, hed probably be out of a job.

Not exactly. With cop cams people won't see edited versions of these events. They'll see everything that happens BEFORE hand now. Media won't be able to manipulate people as easily when they see why certain events occur. For example, hands up. Actually if people saw a POV of an enraged linebacker charging, they would be singing a different tune. Obviously the racists who think black people are allowed to beat up cops won't care. But most intelligent people will realize how difficult it is to just shoot the guy in the ankle or curl up into a ball and let someone start pummeling them hoping backup will get there in time.

Cop cams will do some good but it will quickly put to rest loads of cases where people think the cops are shooting first. Idiots will still be useful idiots though. It will just expose their ignorance time and time again.

I think copcams are plus for the people and the cops.... win\win

the only reason a cop in uniform would refuse to wear one is if they had something to hide while doing their job

they should be logged and put online whenever an arrest is made, let the public see the good and the bad

You seem to only know the media's polluted and poorly vetted opinion from right after the incident. He wasn't turning himself in, those "witnesses" admitted to the grand jury that they were lying. He was high and charging at the officer when the officer defended himself. The "protestors" decided to use a thug who attacked a COP as their poster child for alleged needed reform, and it blew up in their face. Nobody will likely take such a protest seriously again for a long time.
