Why does this question the 10,000 years any more than the "millions" and "billions" the scientists seem so certain of ?

I didn't open the link, so maybe it's in the story... but it seems like just another item from somewhere between 1 year and 1 gazillion years ago.

I mean, I get your agenda here based on where you posted this, but is there something special about this find ?

For some it won't. Just another data point showing 10,000 yrs ago is not correct.

Of course. First, you have to drug the girl....

    - - - Updated - - -

Orrrrr..... that the 300,000 or 300,000,000 or 300,000,000,000 is not correct.

Many don't need to do that. Some do.

It is why I said for some, it won't matter. No amount of data will convince someone who has no desire to change one's mind upon new data.

With a fire pit that big I'd say it must of been a white man's fire!

    (don't go bonkers I'm white)

You know a lot of people who have a desire to change their mind ?

Sorry, if that's what you;re hoping for, it's not me.

Given proof I am open to it... but I don't generally have any such "desire".

Everyone should be open minded enough to desire to change one's mind upon learning new things.

Sadly, there are some who prefer to keep with the old, regardless of any amount of data.
Kinda like the Amish stuck in the 1800's.

As interesting as this is I cant help but feel it is more relevant to the science forum. There's already more than enough evidence to convince anyone that the Earth is more than 10,000 years old, unless they are irretrievably entrenched.

Willingness, which is what I possess, is not the same as desire.

I'm sure the people you know, and claim have the desire, would agree with me.

The intent wasn't to present this as any sort of news, or 'scientific find'.

The intent was to take on Christianity's beliefs in regard to the Earth's age.

That was the sole goal of the OP's author.

    zzz...

So please give me proof for the Earth being a few thousand years old? And please don't say 'The Bible'.

how does this prove God exists ? it doesn't. God exists in the mind of the believer. that's it.

Have I taken on that argument?

Let me scroll through these very numerous 14 posts and see if I have.

    Or maybe you could.

I agree with you on where this item was posted and why. From an anthropological point of view, it is very exciting

    I totally get that.

And I'm not arguing the validity as someone thought I was. I was curious as to why this item presented some "question" to the 10,000 year theory. As if it had some special circumstances to it or something. Haven't all finds that were determined to be older than 10,000 years ?!

It really was just an innocent question, lol.

I didn't know which forum. But those in the science already know how old the earth is. Many here do not or simply put their head in the sand.

Mostly because there are a couple of threads here that most of the theists claim the earth is young. And I didn't want to bog down those threads with this new finding.

The Amish are somewhat different. They simply beleive that reliance on technology corrupts and they are correct to a point. They keep to themselves and do not harm others.

A christian notjob tends to be different. A parent who refuses to use medicine and lets their child die, for example.

well that's good. what proof were you given regarding the age of the earth? assuming here that you ARE indeed, a young earther. if not, then congrats on not accepting it without proof :p

    so many knots ....

Well there is clearly the politicizing history. Some want to use the information as proof for or against their position on who lives in the region today and who has what claims to that region. Issues frankly I care little about, and wont be venturing an opinion on in this thread.

Good point. Kids used to go out and play. Nowadays, all they want to do is sit in front of the tv all day and play video games. That can't be right. Twitter and facebook are some good ways to stay connected with people, but we still need real human contact with eachother.

If someone did say the Bible, I would then ask "where in the Bible does it say that?"
