Former CDC director says he received death threats from fellow scientists for supporting lab leak theory

Robert Redfield, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says he received death threats after backing the COVID-19 lab leak theory — including from other scientists.

Redfield told Vanity Fair that these death threats came in after he surprisingly told CNN in March that he believes COVID-19 likely "escaped" from a lab in Wuhan, something he noted at the time was his own personal opinion.

"I was threatened and ostracized because I proposed another hypothesis," Redfield said. "I expected it from politicians. I didn't expect it from science."

The rest of Vanity Fair's report discusses how until fairly recently, the theory that COVID-19 could have leaked from a Wuhan lab was "treated not simply as unlikely or even inaccurate but as morally out-of-bounds," and the report also says that a former State Department official wrote in a memo that staff "warned" leaders not to "pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19" because it would "open a can of worms."

    So what is the truth?
    Wwill we ever know?

I don't trust Redfield, but his points are likely valid.

It did not escape from the lab. Criminal bastards released it. It was all planned.

I differ in opinion. It could have easily escaped the lab it was in. Three doctors in the lab got sick. Anyone else could have carried it home with them. It was a low level lab. The crime would be what happened after it did.

    Perhaps so.

Some stories months ago from Italy and NYC indicate that by studying sewage sample collected (I did not know that was even done) show traces of the virus to have been present in the fall of 2019 in those locations. If that is true and accurate the virus was present before the supposed 'leak' from the lab.

I very much AM a conspiracy theorist. Maybe I've watched too many police mystery shows like Columbo and others. As Madison noted way back when, "in truth all men holding power OUGHT to be mistrusted."

Martin and Willis make a very compelling case showing this was a planned event. If you've ever watched the video of Event 201, and if you've ever worked in government, you will realize how federal agencies, all bureaucracies I suppose, plan things.

As much as China holds things close to the vest it could have been out long before anyone knows but it was a level 2 lab. Something like this should have been in a level 4 lab.
