On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Chris Wallace challenged White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on the Trump administration’s claim that terrorists are crossing the southwestern border of the United States.

Wallace said, “The State Department says, quote, ‘There were no credible evidence of any terrorist coming across the border from Mexico.’”

Sanders said, “We know that roughly nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists come into our country illegally, and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is southern border.”
Wallace shot back, “I know the statistic, I didn’t know if you were going to use it, but I studied up on this. Do you know what those 4,000 people come where they are captured? Airports.”

Sanders said, “Not always—”

Wallace said, “Airports. The state department says there hasn’t been any terrorists found coming across the southern border from Mexico.”

Fact Check: Did the U.S. catch 4,000 terrorists at the southern border in 2018?
WASHINGTON — White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Friday that Customs and Border Protection picked up nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists last year "that came across our southern border."

But in fact, the figure she seems to be citing is based on 2017 data, not 2018, and refers to stops made by Department of Homeland Security across the globe, mainly at airports.

In fiscal 2017, the latest year for which data is available, according to agency data and the White House's own briefing sheet, the Department of Homeland Security prevented nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists from "traveling to or entering the United States."

According to Justice Department public records and two former counterterrorism officials, no immigrant has been arrested at the southwest border on terrorism charges in recent years.

Does lying every day to the American public endear herself to Fox viewers? Isn't she supposed to be a 'good Christian woman'?

I dunno how these folk can justify blatantly misleading and lying to the American public once elected. They all swore an oath to the constitution when sworn in. I guess that was just a routine meaningless act for this "Administration".

 

The headline should be "Chris Wallace actually decided to report a fact for a change".

 

If she weren't so belligerent, Saunders would be a sympathetic character. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to hold a job that requires you to lie to reporters and the American people on a constant basis. There are some who say she should resign from her post if she doesn't like having to do it, but I'm not in a position to determine whether or not a person should resign. I do, however, believe that she would not draw the scorn she does if she didn't criticize the reporters for challenging the positions she knows to be wrong or false.

 

You know why 4,000 have been caught at airports and far fewer have been caught at the southern border?

Maybe it's because we have control over the airports and none at the border.

This is an argument FOR a border wall. Not against.

Besides, we know that terrorists have been caught crossing the border. How many more would have been caught if we had airport level security?

 

We all make our own choices, she made hers. I have no sympathy for her. She's one of 'those' people that say 'look at me going to church with my family, I'm a good Christian' then in the next breath lie to the bottom of their black souls. Judging from the desperation in Sarah Sanders' voice during the interview it was clear that she didn't expect to be confronted by truth during a Fox interview.

 

The deal with the devil...........the devil will always win unless one actually believes that once one confesses their sins they will be cleansed.

 

I do not believe it was a lie. I believe it is her perspective. It is up to us to figure out what is a lie and what isn't. After all, don't most husbands and wives lie to each other all the time? Sure they do. Any other answer is disingenuous. What is the difference here? We aren't married?

What we do on a regular basis is what we generally do to all. She doesn't owe us a thing, just like a wife or husband.

 

Do you guys have every statistic, fact and figure ready at the tip of your tongue? I don't.

As I've posted here several times before, 6 Syrians and a Pakistani woman were captured here in New Mexico when they crossed over illegally. Who knows how many slipped by without getting caught.

 

Not to mention the shall-not-be-mentioned school shooter training compound.

 

What are you talking about? Of COURSE we have control over our border crossings and the entire border. CBP has all the tools and technology that airport security agents have access to. But the blatant lies and intentional misleading of the American public particularly by our own Director of Homeland Security is absolutely intolerable and unacceptable.

Kristjen Nielson said "CBP has stopped nearly 3,000 what we call 'special interest aliens' trying to come into the country at our southern border. Those are aliens as the intel community has identified - are of concern". Chris Wallace pointed out that special interest aliens are people that come from countries that have ever produced a terrorist, they are not terrorists themselves, and the State Department - and this is their words - "there is no credible evidence of any terrorists coming across the border from Mexico." Chris Wallace added, "and all those 4,000 have been captured at airports, not at the southern border."

 

I see the villian here as the inside washington swamp rat chris wallace who is a knee-jerk anti trumpster

We can assume that if all or most the jihadie wackos are getting caught in the airports then their next option is crossong along the wide open mexican border
