This documentary is impressive and gives a very different view of our public school system than I had ever heard before.

In a way this documentary presents a powerful case for parents to seriously consider either home schooling or a private school.

This helps to explain how so many young people cannot seem to question some aspects of some popular documentaries that we saw over these past fifteen years.

    Cool idea! Private school!!!

So in Seattle, private school tuition is between $33K and $37K per student year, from middle school on. Plus, there ARE additional costs - sports, music, art, computers/software, etc., but how about we just totally ignore that?

So, let's say you have 2 kids and you plan to give them 6 years of private middle and high school. So, tuition is 2 X $40K X 6.

    >> How do you propose this family should cough up the half million dollars?

Plus, there are wait lists. So, you better get your money down.

I will say that there are 3 churches that have their own schools, at least through middle school. Their tuition is half that. BUT, they are crazily overbooked and don't have any impact on education here. Their capacity is just WAY too small. Plus, they do teach their religions. So, it might be best to become a Catholic.

I think the major problem with that video is that public school is a BARGAIN!!!

And, it allows all to go to school at a time when the career type jobs are no longer in auto manufacturing, but are in high tech, automation, innovation, clean energy, etc.

    Those jobs require college.

America would be crap for economic competition if it weren't for public schools.
