I just have one question for you... Why the hell do you care?

If you mention god, or religion, god tells you NOT to judge, or you shall be judged by him in the same way. If you are religious and judge homosexuals, you are a hypocrite. So, you call them a sinner, god calls you a sinner. You both go to hell.... whatever.

Ok, for the rest of you that aren't religious hypocrites... Why do you care? They don't bother you... They don't impose their views on you. Do you think it's disgusting to look at? < Men had better not chime in here or they're just hypocrites. We all love watching girl on girl, and you friggen know it. So, if you can't stand looking at homosexual affection, don't friggen look. Or... are you unable to control yourself?

So, why do you care about what someone else does that doesn't affect you in any way? Someone being homosexual is literally less intrusive than the woman who rides the bus or subway with way too much perfume on. So, why do you have to be a d:ck about it?

I have a theory, but I'm not an anti homosexual member.

The OP is a vastly over-simplified perspective for too many reasons to list nor is the a universal set of reasons for those who do oppose LGTB rights or practices.

I don't think the OP is asking for a universally-shared opinion or claiming that there is only one reason. If you think the OP's perspective is over-simplified, then maybe you could take the time to explain why you think so.

Or better yet - tell us why you personally oppose LGTB rights or practices. Otherwise it's just meta-posting to troll.

In an ideal world, what would you like to see happen? I'm genuinely interested.

I know y'all would want marriage to be traditional but should gay couples have any rights? Any protections?

Should they be allowed to adopt if they offer a stable living enviroment, especially if the child cannot find other adoption means. If they do not disclose they are homosexual should the child be taken?

Should gay people be allowed to serve in the military? Kicked out if they ever get "outted"

Should gay people be openly discriminated against and denied service? To what end? Are there limits?

An interesting statistic I just discovered from Gallup:
70% of individuals against same sex marriage also believe homosexuality should be criminalized, do you follow this believe? If so how do we go about carrying out punishment?

Any other views? What do you believe would solve the problem of homosexuality?

It is just a simple question...

I actually found out last night that my wife thinks something traumatic happened in their early life that makes people gay or bisexual... It caught me off guard considering her mother is a lesbian. I thought she would have just thought it was normal to be gay. She isn't against it, just doesn't think it's a natural innate occurrence. Now, we didn't go into the thought that deep, hell, that's the first time I had heard that from her. It's just not something that comes up in casual, or almost any conversation for us.

    Who cares?

I couldn't give a rat's patootie who like to take it in the rear.

Some people hate to see other people waste their lives. Not me.

Some Christians are concerned for the sinners who are going to burn in Hell for homosexuality. Not me.

I only care about freedom and the Constitution.

Homosexuality doesn't give anyone special rights.

    It doesn't trump religious freedom.

Homosexuality isn't a protected class. It is not the same thing as being born black.

One day, the scientists will have a cure for homosexuality and all the wasted time, money and lives will have been of no consequence.

The OP is just fine. It is a 'broad' question for good reason and the range of answers is just as important (likely more, in this case), as any of the specific responses that may be evoked.

There is science to strongly suggest that MOST homosexual people do not exist (particularly) as the result of abuse or trauma. Now, where suicides of LGBT are concerned... the same is worth noting, as it pertains to how society as a whole treats LGBT people.

You're right it's not the same thing but a study has shown that it is a genetic trait. So while not the same, the root cause is similar, it's in the genes.

It's not a disease that can be "cured". And in order to "cure" homosexuality, one would have to agree to the "cure". So you think all homosexuals would want the "cure" and that would end homosexuality forever?

Speaking of roots, every see the mini-series of the same name? It is about black
Americans in slavery in America, not about homosexuals in slavery in America.
Homosexuality is an activity, not a race. It has nothing to do with civil rights. It's
demonstrates the continued racist policies that the democratic party has had towards
blacks for hundreds of years. By hijacking the Civil Rights Movement for black Americans
and applying it to every special interest group as a system of maintaining a voting base
    and power.

Well science will get better and better at isolating this trait. If they can't find a inoculation
that parents can give to their children, then the parents can just abort the child while still
    in the womb.

A person is defined and influenced by billions of endless outside influences, propaganda, events, peer pressure, positive and negative events in their lives, for which knowing why a person has the personality, impulses, desires, fears, instincts and tastes is virtually impossible to calcuate with certainty. I personally know people of highly divergent, complex and even self internally contradictory perspectives and practices in relation to sexuality and gender matters, including some for which it would appear to solidly stem from intense histories in their past.

We arrived where we are at in our lives out of our pasts, however that happens to be.

Unfortunately that one is easy to dodge as a Christian can just claim to have removed the plank from their eye.

The #1 responce I get to that question is AIDS which is a silly argument as AIDS is not limited to gays and is a preventable illness that cares not about sexual orientation. I suspect that the AIDS argument is a proxy for a bias that has no defense other than "God says it is wrong thus it is so".

As a rule, I generally oppose all encompassing statements as per the above. But I suspect that while not all straight men like girl on girl action, I am betting that the overwhelming majority do. Based upon my anecdotal evidence, I have never known a man who I trust and see as honest to say that they find girl on girl disgusting.

To raise what I see are valid complaints are not against LGTBs, but rather some of the highly agresssive, in-your-face actions by radical LGTB rights activists. I've posted about that before. We used to be highly involved and for real, personal reasons, in LGTB rights activism. But the gay rights movement shifted from just seeking safety and equality, to seeking notariety and demands of being liked and compliance to any slogans, words, and desires they had. It became absurd and outrageous.

The worst is the transvestite movement for which if a man puts on a dress he demands to be addressed as and treated as a woman, while putting on an extremely offensive to women act in his portrayal of being a woman as shallow as possible like they are cartoon characters. This was so extreme that transvestite men are banned from our house after the last occasion became violent before he was physically thrown out.

The Cathyn Jenner money-making fake act, for example, is extremely insulting and offensive about women. The raiding of women's athletics, now all the way up to the Olympics and in martial arts competitions, is another example.

Most, certainly not all, people do not proactively oppose the rights of LGTBs to live their lives in peace. Where the opposition grows is to the constant in-your-face activities of the most extreme LGTB activists. That is where I see legitimate complaints.

Morality is subjective and even more complex when it comes to religion. For example, the OP could ask the same question about adultery. Why does anyone care about it if it doesn't affect them? Why speak against it?

In religion, what is wrong is wrong because their God says it is wrong. It is not their place to question what their God says. To take any other view would be for the person to put him/herself above God, and then that is no God at all.

I know the theory....I'd say it applies to about half of them....the ones who are really PASSIONATE and repetitive in their anti-gay posts.

    - - - Updated - - -

It would be the way that "pro-life" Religious Righties...would finally support abortion rights.

Of course the whole thing is meaningless....

the vast majority of homophobes are OLD.

Poll out in 2014 showed that 61% of young REPUBLICANS supported gay marriage rights.

So eventually even the homophobes' home....the GOP....will see them disappear...from natural causes.

No one I know here on the Forum is anti-homosexual they are mostly classified as such for any inquiry as to why a person becomes homosexual. As soon as one tries to find out how a human being can become homosexual, the heterophobe harpies descend.

In many cases adultery causes harm to others and as I see the boundery that separates an action from an immoral action as harm, then by my measure adultery is immoral. Being gay in and of itself harms no one ergo I view it as amoral just as is heterosexuality.

Theistic based morals are a burden of theist who have no authority to make non believers bear the same burden.

By no means as a defense of adultery, but it is no more a harm than it in a person's head, which is analogous to homosexuality.

People imposing their ideology thru government is nothing new. Secular or non-secular, it is still imposing their ideology via government on others.

Once again someone (you) inaccurately brings up the "judge not" issue.

    You are wrong. Matthew 7:1-2:

"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

Read the rest of Matthew 7 for the full context. It means that if you judge, then you better meet the same standard you use on others. It means don't follow the "do as I say, not as I do" philosophy. It means that if you want to maintain the respect of the community for yourself and Christianity, then you have to live up to and beyond the standards.

It absolutely does not mean not to judge anyone, to turn your back on sin and anything goes. Christianity demands Christians judge themselves and others.

And why do I care? First, I care because homosexuality is a sin and sin is an afront to God, but if a homosexual person isn't interested in talking to me then that's their business and I will move on.

But primarily I care because the LGBT and "progressive" activists have targeted religion and have moved beyond the myth that its all about "equality". The gays have their marriage equality, but that did not stop them from moving immediately to try to force Christians to endorse gay marriage - as in perform a gay marriage or lose your tax exempt status and get sued for "discrimination" and violating "diversity" laws.

And the gays certainly don't have any problems with destroying Christians who don't want to bake a gay wedding cake, destroying them to the point of bankrupting the business and working to make a mom and her children homeless.

Or destroying people who participate in a legal political process, such as Brendan Eich who supported California Prop 8. Or trying to destroy anyone who speaks out in any way which is critical of the gay mob.

Gays (and the entire LGBT crowd) have moved from being victims to be the bully.

For me it isn't really a problem that you want to figure out why people are gay. Although you saying that it's something that people become indicates that you already believe a certain conclusion and don't really care to understand why people are gay.

It seems you want to tell people why they are gay and that they become gay.

If you want to have a civil conversation, you have to be respectful.

My issue with this discussion is the reducing of humans to a sexual act. That dehumanizing and it absolutely cannot be tolerated.

    - - - Updated - - -

I don't know if you know it. I think it's true all of the time.

It isn't that they are closer cases.

I did see Roots and what in the world does that have to do with anything?

Homosexuality is not an activity, where do you get this from? No one has to do anything to be either a homosexual or a heterosexual. It is a state of mind that wants to have a sexual or maybe just a love interest relationship with one sex or the other (or both or neither in some cases). It doesn't necessarily need to be practiced. That state of mind is allegedly a genetic inclination (according to scientific studies), just like race, albeit based on different genes.

This has nothing to do with anything either. I never mentioned anything about civil rights, racism or politics. I'm strictly talking about biology, in this case genes.

And you believe that if science ever determines that a fetus may tend to homosexuality, ALL parents will choose to abort? It's basically the same question I asked but the onus is now on the parents. From the tone of your posts it sounds like you want to permanently eradicate homosexuality. It must be a difficult world to have to live in that contains people who aren't just like you.

Gays haven't targeted religion. Religion targeted them.

Religions seek to Debby them rights, people always list some bogus religious reason why they discriminate against homosexuals in employment and housing.

We wanted to get married. Religious influence targeted us making laws against it, we appeal to the federal court which is or seventh amendment right, and the religious people try to block that by claiming it violates rights they don't have. They targeted gays again. When the federal courts rule on the case, a religious nut job thinks then that the constitution doesn't apply when she is a county clerk and targets gay people wanting a marriage license.

Look, sir in your church and think the entire world is going to hell. Nobody cares and nobody should. Your religion doesn't give you the right to dictate to others how to live. Nobody will attack your religion if you don't use it as a means to protect your attacks on them. If you do use it that way, I hope it gets spit on and trampled underfoot like the poor argument it is.

If you don't support ssm, have a cookie and circle jerk with your prayer groups. That's your business. If you want to say you have the right to discriminate. Your religion will be butchered as it should.

Assclowns in the past used religion to justify murder, discrimination and genocide. It's never your right, it never has been.

If it's against your religion not to treat homosexuals or any other group like crap that's your problem. If you need the law to support your cockimamie hoax of a religion this isn't the country for you.

Nobody should give it the slightest bit of respect at all. Much less because you want to use it to justify your barbaric moronic behavior.
