i know of people who do this. welfare and unemployment gives them money which they use to buy these things welfare doesn't give them this stuff but enough money to buy this stuff and live pretty comfortably. When the safety net becomes too comfortable people have no reason to get out of it.

i am not saying take it away but dont make it comfortable. IMO welfare is not something you should be able to live off.

Okay, but just what exactly do you expect to happen to those people you cut off?

Don't you think that at least some of them will take actions that may have adverse effects on you?

So you believe that all (or most) poor people are inherently lazy?

Do you have a legit source for this?

I get that there are those that scam the system, and their benefits should be reduced as needed.

However, there are many people that just want to get rid of ALL welfare ALTOGETHER. This would be a very bad thing, in my opinion, that would harm many more people than it would help.

And I don't think that we, as a country, are at the point where we can stomach watching masses of people slowly dying in the streets. At least, I hope that is the case. So what else can we do?

Does anyone have a solution that would work and actually stand a chance of being put into effect?

Okay, fair enough. But comfortable is subjective, and what I may consider neccesary and comfortable may not be the same as what you, or someone else, would consider comfortable.

So let me ask you? How well should a person receiving any form of government assistance live? What do you think should be cut?

What you say seems confusing to me, except the part where you would reduce their benefits.

What would you do about those that spend their limited benefits on non-needed items, to the point where they cannot afford rent or food?

Nothng once they spen their money thats it till their next check. I know its hard to do such a thing but there needs to be negative consequences for such actions or else they will be repeated. Just as big business shouldn't expect to get bailed out for a bad business decision people shouldn't be bailed out for bad money decisions so they and others can learn by the consequences.
